Deadwood Slot Overview

Deadwood is a casino slot from NoLimit City in which you get to visit the notorious town of Deadwood, home to the most dangerous quick-draws of the Wild West. Using the xNudge mechanic, the game provides that explosive potential we come to expect when we head to the land of cowboys. A sequel to Tombstone, undoubtedly. But improved graphics, a chance to choose your destiny in the bonus game, and a brand-new mechanic are on the agenda. Let’s dig in!

Base Game

Deadwood is a video slot from NoLimit City with 5 reels and a row-setup of 3-4-4-4-3, resulting in 576 payways. Players can choose between a Min.bet of 0.20 and a Max.bet of 100. The game has a solid default RTP of 96.03%, but there are versions with a lower RTP than that, so be on the lookout. It has a high hit frequency of 40.17%, implying that, on average, you’ll get a winning combination on 4/10 spins. The free spins hit frequency means that you will trigger the Free Spins 1 in 197 spins, on average. Lastly, Deadwood is played at high volatility and can net you a max win of 13950x the bet. However, that may be hard to hit, as the game has a max win frequency of 1 in 10 billion spins.

Most of you are probably newbies when it comes to gunslinging, but some neat mechanics will help you be successful. The features of Deadwood are xNudge Wild, Shootout, Hunter Spins, Gunslinger Spins, Shootout Spins, and Feature Buy.

Deadwood Slot Information

The game resembles Tombstone in many ways. It takes place in the Wild West, this time in a town called Deadwood. It’s said to be “home to the narliest quick-draws of the Wild West.” Sounds like a fun place, eh? Well, good thing is that the gunslingers will help you create some juicy hits, so don’t fear them.

Deadwood can be played on all common mobile devices and desktops. A winning combination is created by landing 3 or more symbols on consecutive reels, starting from the leftmost reel.

The lower-paying symbols consist of 10, J, Q, K, and A. A winning combination of 5 with one of these pays 1x-1.25x the bet. The higher-paying symbols include shotguns, whiskey, cash vaults, watches, and gold bars. Five-of-a-kind with these pays 1.5x-3.75x the bet. Nudging Wilds can also land to help create big wins and Scatter symbols triggers the Free Spins feature.

Hunter Spins

xNudge Wild

A 4-row high Wild symbol exists on reel 2, 3, and 4 and will always nudge until it fully covers the reel it lands on. For every step it nudges, the win multiplier increases by 1. If you land xNudge Wilds on more than 1 reel, their multipliers add together.

Shootout

If you land a Sheriff Badge symbol on reel 1 and 5 in the base game, the Shootout feature is triggered. On that spin, all lower-paying symbols on the middle 3 reels will turn into Wild symbols.

Hunter Spins

If you land 3 Scatter symbols, you will get to pick between the Hunter Spins feature and the Gunslinger Spins feature. If you pick the Hunter Spins, you are awarded 8 Free Spins, where you’re guaranteed to land at least 1 xNudge Wild on every spin. Landing one Sheriff Badge Symbol awards an extra spin, and if you land both Sheriff Badge symbols in one spin, the feature is upgraded to Shootout Spins.

Gunslinger Spins

If you pick the Gunslinger Spins, you are awarded 8 Free Spins. Anytime you land an xNudge Wild, the multiplier it creates will be stored and build upon the overall multiplier, applying to all wins for the rest of the feature. Landing one Sheriff Badge Symbol awards an extra spin, and if you land both Sheriff Badge symbols in one spin, the feature is upgraded to Shootout Spins.

Shootout Spins

The Shootout Spins can be triggered by landing two Sheriff Badge Symbols and 3 Scatter Symbols or by landing 2 Sheriff Badge Symbols while already in the Free Spins feature. If triggered from Base Game, you will get to choose between 10 Hunter Spins or 10 Gunslinger spins, on which the Shootout mechanic is always active.

Feature Buy

If you want to jump straight into action, you can do so by buying one of the following bonuses:

71x = Activates the regular Free Spins, where you get to choose between Hunter Spins and Gunslinger Spins.

750x = Activates the Shootout Spins, where you get to choose between Shootout Hunter Spins and Shootout Gunslinger Spins.

Deadwood Slot Conclusion

While some sequels feel forced and unnecessary, others are very welcomed. Tombstone was a huge hit when it was released, offering a level of volatility that the industry was not used to. At the time, the graphics were not on a low level, but the industry moves quickly. It’s only around a year between Tombstone’s and Deadwood’s releases, but visually, it’s night and day. Everything looks sharper, more modern, and simply better. People will probably say, “no I like the more retro look of Tombstone”; and that’s fine, but Deadwood is, objectively, a way better production.

However, one thing that is subjective is the gameplay's fun level. Some people think that the most simple games, like Starburst and Book of Dead are the best games, and that’s perfectly fine. With that said, we believe that Deadwood is a more complete game. There haven’t been a great deal of changes, but the tweaks that have been made are nice, creating smoother gameplay and more touchable potential. The player choice factor of having two different bonuses - one more volatile than the other is brilliant, as it allows a broader audience to enjoy the game. Furthermore, you have the potential Shootout spins, and none of the bonuses are identical to Tombstone’s bonus, so after all, this is by no means a re-skin but a successful sequel to an already banging game.
