Introduction to Santa’s Workhouse
Santa’s Workhouse is a casino slot from Kitsune Studios where the title spoils the setting. While it’s definitely not the first time we find ourselves in this factory, it seems Kitsune Studios wanted to paint Father Christmas with a bit more of an iron hand. Here, elves slave away to create the perfect gifts for all kids in need, however, at the cost of their own well-being. But it seems like Santa Claus does not care, as he delivers on a game filled with overworked elves, Cascading Reels, Multiplier Spots, and Cash Prizes in the form of Smoke Clouds. While it may sound a bit strange, we do agree that Kitsune Studios has delivered on a bit of a strange feature package, however, we can’t deny it’s quite volatile and can deliver on some pretty solid wins. This combination of features is then turned up a notch during the Forced Overtime Free Spins, making Multiplier Spots persistent and guaranteeing the Coin Symbols. But this does come with the fact that the game has a weird feeling of being both quite chaotic at times and almost a bit too straightforward and familiar, as, outside of the Coin Smoke Prizes, we’ve seen large parts of the formula many times before. Anyhow, join us as we explore the workshop and see if we can nab home a gift worthy of the max win of 10,000X the bet.
Santa’s Workhouse comes with a Multiplier Spot and a cascade-centric formula, where stacking wins and finishing off with big Cash Prizes are key to big wins.

Theme, Gameplay, & Payouts
Santa's Workhouse is a video slot from Kitsune Studios with 6 Reels, 5 Rows, and uses Cluster Pay mechanics, needing a minimum of 5+ of the same symbols together to form a win. You can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.1 and a Max.bet of 100. Santa’s Workhouse comes with a higher-than-average RTP of 96.33%, medium/high volatility, and a good max win of 10,000X the bet.
As mentioned in the title, the game is set inside Santa’s workshop on the North Pole, and he even joins us to micromanage and make sure all elves are on the clock and working to their best abilities. While we may sound a bit grim, that’s largely what Kitsune Studios paints a picture of, but even so, the visuals aren’t half bad, even if the workshop does look a bit empty in the background. You can play the game on most notepads, desktops, and mobiles.
The lower-paying symbols are various items and toys, including a cog, a bolt, a time watch, a rocking horse, and a box. Creating a win with 19+ of the same symbols pays out 20X the bet. The higher-paying symbols are different elves that work for Santa, including the blue, green, red, purple, and orange elves. Landing a win with 19+ of the same symbols pays out 30X to 300X the bet. The Special Symbols include Wilds, Christmas Bombs, Coins, and Scatter Symbols, but more on these in the next section.

Wild Symbols
Wild Symbols help form winning combinations by being able to substitute for all symbols by being able to substitute for all symbols except Christmas Bomb, Coin, and Scatter Symbols.
Cascade
Creating a winning combination removes the winning symbols from the playing grid, allowing new symbols to fall in from above and potentially create additional winning combinations. This continues until no more wins can be made, thus ending the spin.
Multiplier Spots
After a winning combination is formed, the positions beneath the winning symbols become Multiplier Spots, starting at 2X and doubling in value for each additional winning combination on top of that position, up to a maximum of 256X. These Multipliers are added to all wins that they are part of and reset between spins in the base game, but remain persistent in the bonus game.
At the start of a spin, you can also land Quad Multipliers, which are non-paying symbols that will instantly create a Multiplier Spot on top of their position in a 2x2 size.

After exploding, it will choose a random symbol and turn all affected symbols into that symbol.

Final Thoughts on Santa's Workhouse
While Kitsune Studios might have had a few interesting ideas behind it, the theme around Santa’s Workhouse just isn’t stacking up well, meaning it feels quite forgettable to us, especially in the ocean of seasonal Christmas releases. Gameplay-wise, Santa’s Workhouse doesn’t feel especially new, as Cascade and Multiplier Spots is an old and beloved formula, but that helps it lay down a rather solid foundation. While we do think Kitsune Studios delivered a somewhat interesting mechanic with the Coin Smoke Bonus, it feels disconnected and not very thematic.
On top of this, while it has the potential to pay out quite well thanks to many Multipliers that can be applied to it, they feel quite inconsistent if they’re supposed to be the main way to hit larger wins. But this is mostly a critique of the base game, as the Free Spins bonus game is the saving grace thanks to its persistent Multiplier Spots and guaranteed Coin Symbols. Even so, while the spins may flow a bit nicer, we still don’t think the feature is all too fun, even if we give Kitsune Studios props for a slightly creative mechanic. Meaning that, at the end of the day, we would recommend Santa’s Workhouse for its familiar formula and one interesting mechanic, but maybe only if you’re looking for some seasonal spins this coming holiday.
Santa’s Workhouse is a slot that delivers on a familiar Cascade and Multiplier Spot gameplay loop, but with a few new tools in the form of Christmas Bombs, Quad Multipliers, and Coin Smoke Bonuses to help stack up wins.
