Introduction to Book of Crown
Book of Crown is a casino slot from PoggiPlay where we find ourselves in Ancient Egypt, surrounded by pyramids. As you’ve probably realized from the title, this is a “Book of” game, which, if you aren’t familiar with it, dates back all the way to 2005 with the release of Book of Ra, the grandfather of the genre, which was later popularised by Book of Dead in 2016. The genre is known for its bonus game with Expanding Symbols and, usually, an Egyptian theme, which PoggiPlay nails. While we always love to see something new brought to the table, especially to a 2-decade-old genre, Book of Crown keeps it simple and old-school, relying on the tried and tested Expanding Symbols bonus game and Scatter Wild Symbols instead of trying to step out of their comfort zone. This leads to a familiar gameplay loop, where most sizeable wins can be found in the Free Spins feature, which can reach the max win of 5,000X the bet.

Theme, Gameplay, & Payouts
Book of Crown is a video slot from PoggiPlay with 5 Reels, 3 Rows, and 10 Paylines. You can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.05 and a Max.bet of 100. Book of Crown comes with an average RTP of 96.05%, medium volatility, and an okay max win of 5,000X the bet. Creating wins in the Book of Crown work differently depending on the symbols, as lower-paying symbols need 3 of the same symbols in a payline to payout, while the higher-paying symbols only need 2.
As “Book of” is usually Egyptian-themed with a dash of mythological gods, we weren’t all too surprised when we saw Book of Crown do exactly this, as while it doesn’t look bad, it doesn’t do much to stand out in a visual or thematic way. You can play the game on most notepads, mobiles, and desktops.
The lower-paying symbols are 10, J, Q, K, and A. Creating a win with 5 of the same symbols will pay out 5X to 20X the bet. The higher-paying symbols are gods such as Horus, Anubis, and Bastet, as well as an Adventurer. Landing a win with 5 of the same symbols pays out 100X to 250X the bet. There is also one Special Symbol, the Scatter Wild Symbol, which can also payout by landing 5 of the same symbols, which will pay 500X the bet.

Final Thoughts on Book of Crown
Book of Crown is another drop in the lake of “Book of” clones that we see released every year, and have seen for years. Not to say it’s a bad game, but Book of Crown doesn’t do much to actually differentiate itself from all of these other releases, as its gameplay very much follows the same formula, even copying the Scatter Wilds from the original 2005 release, and coming with an overused Ancient Egyptian theme with the same few Gods and Goddesses we usually see. We wish there was something that actually made the game stand out to us, instead of just being another release that follows a safe pattern.
If we move on to discuss the actual gameplay, it is the same gameplay many classic slot players have been spinning for years, where everything is based around paylines. One thing we do want to point out is that these paylines aren’t bad, as the paytable is really strong and has some very good payouts. Add this to the fact that Expanded Symbols in the bonus game don’t need to be part of a payline, and hitting wins just got a whole lot easier. But at the end of the day, PoggiPlay hasn’t really done much to spice up a decades-old formula, which might sound like the perfect modern release for some players but might struggle to break out of what some people would deem a niche audience.
Book of Crown is a slot that follows in the footsteps of the 2005 release Book of Ra, incorporating almost everything that made that game great, and tries to deliver with some more modern graphics.
