It seems that every few months, we see a new Area Link release, including Area Link Chilli, Area Link Wolf Unleashed, and Area Link Christmas, and while we usually don’t pay much attention to these games’ themes or settings, Area Link Vegas seems to have drawn the short straw. Final Thoughts on Area Link Vegas
The Area Link series is a bit of a weird one, as, for one, after so many releases, we’ve lost quite a bit of interest, and AreaVegas themselves don’t seem to really want to innovate much. But on the other hand, we do feel some appreciation for the dedication and lengths the studio has gone to in basically rereleasing the same few games over and over again, which can only be said for a few other studios, such as Reel Kingdom and their Big Bass series. But even so, Area Link Vegas is one of the weaker releases, as its visuals and theme are nothing worth discussing, and its gameplay loop is easily forgettable in the sea of its predecessors.
To continue on the gameplay point, the titular Area Link feature is present in the entire series, hence its name, and while sometimes seeing one or two differences when it comes to bonuses, they never feel impactful or impressive enough to leave an impression. Even in a vacuum where the series didn’t exist, Area Link Vegas wouldn’t be very impressive, as the core feature itself is a mix of Hold & Spin bonus games and 3-Pot mechanics, which we’ve seen done better in many other releases. The entire series feels recycled and is one of those that seems to exist more to hit a quota than to appeal to players, even if we do believe there are many out there who really enjoy it. But, even so, we don’t think Area Link Vegas is gonna become a fan favorite release anytime soon because of its unoriginal theme and not-so-interesting features.
