Introduction to Playtech
Playtech was founded in 1999 by Teddy Saigi in Estonia, making it one of the oldest companies in the gaming industry today. But with age comes wisdom, and today, Playtech is a billion-dollar company. Despite that, we don’t really regard Playtech as a mainstream provider. Their focus is not on super-innovative mechanics and crazy graphics, but on simplicity and consistently releasing new games, which we can respect. In terms of revenue, Playtech would certainly rank among the top 3 if we were to rank slot providers, so their strategy is clearly working wonders.
Playtech Slot Releases
What makes Playtech sometimes appear not so innovative is its resemblance to land-based slot machines. This makes total sense, as Playtech has a significant presence in land-based casinos and betting shops in the UK, and not only online, unlike many of its competitors. With that said, Playtech is shifting its focus slightly, incorporating more mainstream mechanics into its games and appealing to a broader audience. Sweet N Juicy is an excellent example of that, offering a more explosive experience with modern features.
We may sound contradictory now, but we are also fond of the Cash Collect series from Playtech, which has become a flagship title. They’ve released plenty of games with the mechanic by now, but there’s something about the simplicity and how feature-stacked they are that makes them super enjoyable.
Lastly, one of Playtech’s most significant selling points is the famous people and shows with which they’ve collaborated. The one we are most fond of is Roberto Carlos Sporting Legends. Not necessarily because of the game itself, but because we had the pleasure of interviewing the man himself on our live stream. Other titles of similar nature include Deadliest Catch and Rocky, to name a few.
If you'd like to try out their games, we offer demo versions on most of our slot reviews.
Final Thoughts on Playtech
Playtech has become such a major player that it’s hard to see them falling off anytime soon. Making it in this industry comes a long way down to financing and having a strong position with influential contacts, and Playtech has just that. Their games may not be voted Game of the Year, but they come in plenty, featuring interesting themes and famous characters.
