Introduction to Thor's Hammer Time 2 - Thunder Zone

Thor's Hammer Time 2 - Thunder Zone is a casino slot from Reflex Gaming, where a massive storm brewing over Asgard is about to break and start raining big wins. The studio took one of its not-so-distant releases, Thor's Hammer Time, launched at the beginning of 2025, and decided to reconfigure the gameplay to put more emphasis on increasing jackpots while removing classic Free Spins. The Storm Link bonus still takes centre stage, offering a familiar Hold&Win playthrough, but this time, enhanced with the mysterious Thunder Zones and a progressive multiplier which you can grow up to x10. Under the protection of the Norse god of lightning, no storm will do you any harm, so head in without fear for wins up to 10,000x the bet.

The risk-free demo mode, available at the top of the page, offers the opportunity to explore all the game's features safely, without putting your real money on the line.

Theme, Gameplay & Payouts

Thor's Hammer Time 2 - Thunder Zone is a video slot from Reflex Gaming with 6 reels, 3 rows, and 20 paylines. You can choose your stake from a range of options, starting from a Min.bet of 0.1, which makes the game particularly affordable, up to a Max.bet of 100. The math profile runs on a default RTP of 96.00%, which is on the lower end of the industry standards, with two alternative variants of 94.00% and 90.50% also released, so make sure to check the version you're playing. You can expect the win distribution to put more value into high wins, although making them less frequent at the same time due to high volatility, while the max win available on any single round is 10,000x the bet. The base hit frequency sits at a rate of 23.87%.

Regarding the design, Thor's Hammer Time 2 - Thunder Zone shares many elements with its predecessor. You will land in an unspecified location somewhere deep in the north, between towering mountain ranges and snowy hills, with a massive storm brewing overhead. The cyclone spins indefinitely with its blue and white rings, injecting the atmosphere with some intensity and anticipation. Most of the central view is occupied by the gold-frame grid, accompanied by an ornate panel that holds five boxes with different jackpot prizes. If you're ready to experience the power of thunder and lightning, you can launch the game on any modern device, whether you prefer to play on a desktop, a smartphone, or a tablet.

Winning combinations must contain between 3 and 6 matching symbols situated on any of the active paylines, while using adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost one. The paytable hierarchy contains two groups of paying icons, with the low-paying ones represented by playing card ranks, such as 10, J, Q, K, and A, awarding from 2x to 4x the bet for a 6-of-a-kind hit. High-paying symbols comprise images of a pair of axes on a shield, a war horn, a longship, and a Viking helmet. They bring payouts of between 6x and 20x the bet when scoring a combo spanning all 6 reels. Wilds are represented by Thor, who substitutes for all paying symbols mentioned above, while Lightning Prizes take the form of glowing orbs of energy in various colours.

Pot Prizes

Every spin on which Lightning Prizes land will increase the value of up to 3 random Jackpot Prizes by 0.5x the current bet. Lightning Prizes are collected by the storm above the reels, which can randomly trigger the Pot Prize Reels bonus game. You will play it on a special grid made of 3 reels and a single payline, where you can land Lightning Prizes, Pot Prize symbols, and blanks. Each of the special prizes displays a trail made of between 3 and 6 fields. Landing Pot Prize symbols on the active winline fills up the respective meters, and once any of them is complete, the associated prize is awarded. Any regular Lightning Prizes landing on the winline also award their respective values, which can be 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, or 20x the bet. Pot Prizes come with the following starting and maximum values multiplied by your active bet.

Mini = 5x to 75x.

Minor = 10x to 100x.

Major = 50x to 250x.

Ultra = 200x to 1,000x.

Mega = 1,000x to 5,000x.

Thunder Multiplier

Thunder Multiplier meter starts at x1 and increases by +0.5x whenever you land exactly 7 Lightning Prizes anywhere on the grid. You can grow it to x5 during the base game and up to x10 during the Storm Link feature by landing X-Hammer symbols. The Thunder Multiplier applies to prizes collected in the Thunder Zones during the Storm Link feature.

Pot Prize Reels

Landing 8 or more Lightning Prizes in any base game spin activates the bonus feature. All triggering symbols stick to the grid, and you receive 3 initial respins. Any new symbols landing during the feature also lock in their places and reset the current respin count back to 3. When a reel is filled with Lightning Prizes, it converts into a Thunder Zone. Creating Thunder Zone on all 6 reels awards the Mega Pot Prize. The following special symbols may appear during the Storm Link feature.

Lightning Bolt = merges all prizes inside a Thunder Zone and collects all Thunder Zone prizes.

X-Hammer = increases the Thunder Multiplier by +0.5x.

+1 Respin = increases the maximum respin count by 1.

When all respins are used, any cash prizes inside Thunder Zones are multiplied by the Thunder Multiplier. Next, all values from the entire grid are collected, added together, and awarded as a total win.

Feature Buy & Ante Bet

The game offers several options to enhance base game spins and trigger the bonus game instantly for a fixed buy-in that scales with your active stake.

1.5x = Golden Bet, increasing the chances of triggering the bonus feature.

100x = trigger Storm Link feature with a random Thunder Multiplier.

200x = trigger Storm Link feature with an x5 Thunder Multiplier.

Final Thoughts on Thor's Hammer Time 2 - Thunder Zone

Thor's Hammer Time 2 - Thunder Zone seems like the type of sequel that was pushed through to accommodate features that producers spotted in other successful games in the industry. Not that the original was in any way unique to begin with, but the follow-up clearly wanted to cram in the increasing jackpot and multiplier mechanics that seemed to have worked well in Fire and Roses Joker by Triple Edge Studios and many other releases that went the same path in the following years. And so, instead of fixed jackpots, of which the highest was 5,000x in the first instalment, now you get progressive ones that you must continue to increase throughout your gameplay. The multiplier doesn't feel as attractive as in other games utilising this function, because it doesn't apply to all prizes by default in the Storm Link feature. You must first fill up an entire column with Lightning Prizes for it to boost them at the end of the round. During our testing, we usually got a few of them locked in, so the benefit was there, but it's not as significant as in a bonus where the multiplier affects all prizes. Altogether, the changes introduced in the sequel seem to water down the gameplay instead of fortifying it, compared to the predecessor.

Regarding the audiovisual setting, there's not much to say, other than pointing out that the producers didn't feel like putting any effort into creating something fresh. If not for the game's logo and some marginal UI changes, it would be nearly impossible to tell the two games apart. That's another proof that the studio wanted to just push out a remake to try out trending mechanics, without bothering about investing in refined artwork. It's a shame that such an approach has become very common in recent years.

Thor's Hammer Time 2 - Thunder Zone is hardly an improvement over its predecessor, reusing the same visuals and introducing overplayed trending features.
