Eastern Fury is a stark contrast to these releases, and while Pragmatic Play still delivers on its casual, vibrant games, we do have to say we really love these occasional outliers, as they show off a completely different side of the studio. Its presentation is on point and really stands out right from the get-go as a serious crime-themed piece, even if its visuals aren’t the best. We’re happy to see the studio explore new ideas, even if they’re inspired by other studios, as Eastern Fury may not be a technological advancement, but it is a step in the right direction toward making Pragmatic Play’s portfolio just a bit more extensive.
When it comes to gameplay, as we mentioned before, while being rather straightforward, Eastern Fury comes with a few quirks that make its gameplay loop just a bit more interesting and fun. A big part of the excitement of this game comes from the Multipliers and Respins, which work well, borrowing the VS mechanic from previous releases to determine the Multiplier Value and guarantee a winning spin. However, here is where one of the quirks comes in, as you don’t want to hit an early winning spin, as even if you land a small 3-symbol payline that’s not even touching the Multiplier Wild, it counts as a winning spin, thus ending the Respins. This can lead to disappointment, but it’s just another layer to take into account, for better or worse. This isn’t an issue in the Free Spins, however, as Expanded Multiplier Wilds stick around, being able to take over the playing grid, leading to non-stop winning spins with potentially huge Multipliers.
All in all, Eastern Fury may only need one feature in the form of Expanded Multiplier Wilds to completely take over the playing grid, but it can also suffer from being just a tad too simple for certain players.
