Book games rarely excite us, but this one’s different. There are few sagas more epic than Play’n GO’s “of dead”, much due to the absurdly successful Book of Dead, but also thanks to some great follow-ups such as Secret of Dead and Pilgrim of Dead. It’s an interesting series of games to follow, but it’s hard to put a finger on why. They all have the book mechanic as the core feature, which in many cases, would feel very dull. Not here, though. Instead, we find ourselves very intrigued every time a new one comes out, excited to see what kind of twist they’ve put on it. 

The risk with games like this one is that if you don’t like the small twist they’ve put on the book feature, you simply won't like the game. Thankfully, the twist in Banquet of Dead is phenomenal. It’s very satisfying deleting symbols each time you expand your symbol, as you get a higher chance of landing your symbol every time you do so. The boring feeling of getting a lower-paying symbol is also removed, as you will get a new one if you just delete symbols up until yours. 

In the end, the game is a straightforward book slot with few aspects, but still a very solid game. Well done Play’n GO!
