Q&A with Competition Winners
We love our AboutSlots community, how we stick together, and how we show up for one another, and today we get to show you why. The winner of our latest Las Vegas competition, held from July 1st to September 30th in collaboration with Pragmatic Play, also happened to be a previous competition winner.
And here’s where it gets cool: Jayetsu decided to give up their two tickets to Las Vegas and exchange prizes with the runner-up, Vruchtensapp, who won the second prize.
We sat down with both of them for an exclusive Q&A to dive into their winning strategies, favorite games, and what keeps them coming back to the AboutSlots community.
Here’s their take on the competition, the prizes, and why being part of this community is such a thrill.
Congratulations Jayetsu & Vruchtensapp… again! Our first question is to Vruchtensapp. Prior to this win, you won another contest. Tell us your secret!
Just play a lot and make sure you post them on the forum!
Now, this question is for Jayetsu. What compelled you to exchange prizes with Vruchtensapp?
Well, I've been in Vegas for F1, and it's been one in a lifetime experience. Didn't expect to win Vegas, but as it is on Gambling, sometimes smaller odds win. I've already been in Vegas, so I thought it’d be better for someone else who has been working really hard to create fantastic new memories. Here comes Vruchtensapp, who had a lot of entries, and I decided to swap prizes with him. I'm glad that he'll have a great time in the US!
Vruchtensapp, what would you like to say to Jayetsu?
Vruchtensapp: I would like to thank Jayetsu for swapping prizes with me! I'm really hyped to go to Las Vegas.
Did you know each other prior to this, or is this the beginning of a new friendship?
Vruchtensapp: I know him from the forum, as he also participates in many forum competitions. There is a bit of rivalry, but always in a friendly manner.
Jayetsu: It's a nickname that I recognize a lot from the forum and stream. We don't know each other, but it might be the beginning of a new friendship. I'll ping him when I'll be in his country (or he'll be in mine) and we can drink some sparkling juice.
Which of the focus games was your favorite?
Vruchtensapp: Gates of Hades, I didn't have the best win on this slot, but I liked it the most.
Jayetsu: Reel Repeat. The repeating feature is a new mechanic on very saturated Bass, and I'm getting back to this game.
You’ve both already been in the spotlight before: how did it feel to get picked again? Do you think luck or strategy played a bigger role this time?
Vruchtensapp: A bit of both, as you need to get tickets and some luck to win it.
Jayetsu: It was really unexpected; it was just a casual Friday for me. It's like hitting max win: an insane experience! Luck is crucial, but strategy pays off, since I've grinded focused games for the last 2 weeks.
Compared to your previous experience, did you notice anything different about this competition?
Vruchtensapp: I do not like the fact that you can't get the super bonus from the base game only by buying it. I want a competition where you can do spins and have a chance to get a super bonus.
Jayetsu: It's a really well-organized competition, and I think it was really close to the F1 grind. I really like the idea of focused tickets.
What’s the biggest lesson or insight you’ve picked up from taking part in multiple competitions?
Vruchtensapp: Do not gamble too much.
Jayetsu: Wagering bonuses in different ways and playing different providers, is an experience I really like. It's a good idea to check new games, new mechanics, and know the industry.
If you were the one designing the next AboutSlots competition, what kind of challenge or twist would you add?
Vruchtensapp: A competition for a whole year where you could earn points in smaller competitions. You’d have a ranking system, and at the end of the year, the top 3 or so would win a bigger prize.
Jayetsu: I've read about aiming for some specific multipliers, or first person to trigger five scatters, for example, in Hacksaw. Hidden mechanics are awesome, and bounties are what I like.
We want to hear about the AboutSlots community, especially today. What’s your favorite part of belonging to a tight-knit group like this one?
Vruchtensapp: The streamers and the community are very open.
Jayetsu: Memes, making jokes that only the community can understand, and watching the brothers' streams to achieve 200 euro base bets, or buying 10k nolimits refills.
Pragmatic Play has tons of fan-favorite titles. Has your top pick changed since last time?
Vruchtensapp: Slightly. Gates of Hades is in my top 10.
Jayetsu: Reel Repeat is definitely top 5 of my favorite games!
Imagine you could co-host a CasinoDaddy stream for one session: what would your “segment” be about?
Vruchtensapp: Searching for the most scuffed printing slot there is.
Jayetsu: Community balances. There is a tool for fast pools or even controlling a single mouse click. The entire stream would print or rip some bullets. It could be Zyvera’s new nightmare KEKW!
