Some people claim that the first shogun started ruling in the 12th century, whilst others say the 17th. That in itself is somewhat irrelevant to this story, as the bullfighting x Shogun mashup is not very historically correct either. What could be interesting to be aware of going into the game, though, is that a shogun was a military dictator who helped bring stability to Japan after a long period of civil war. Although some romanticize the era since it let the country experience a period of peace and prosperity, the shogunate was also marked by strict social codes and political repression. Thus, there might actually be some parallels to draw to bullfighting, which is the other half of the theme. A hilly Japanese mountainside sets the tone as players emerge into a peaceful and colorful adventure in the midst of the Shogun’s empire. But among all this, a fight is going down between a toro and a ninja matador. A fun thing to note is that when ELK released their first game in this series, Wild Toro, they said that they are “always in 100 % in favor for the bull in the theme bullfighting. Therefore, the Toro is always winning over the Matador in the game.”

Toro Shogun can be played on all common mobile devices and desktops. A winning combination is created by landing 3 or more matching symbols on consecutive reels in a connected payline, meaning that the symbols must connect either horizontally or diagonally. 

The lower-paying symbols include blue dragons, green dragons, and red dragons. A winning combination of 5 with one of these pays 0.3x-0.5x the bet. The higher-paying symbols consist of oranges, some sort of daggers, flowers, and the shogun. Five-of-a-kind with these pays 0.75x-10x the bet. Toro Shogun Slot Conclusion

The Toro series has come quite a long way, and we’ve followed it with great pleasure. Last one was Buffalo Toro, which impressed us with its innovative mechanics. Unfortunately, the same can’t really be said about this one. 

The enormous grid creates for some substantial potential, but it doesn’t really feel like we’re playing a new game. Both Ways and Max Rows are both fairly common mechanics, and landing toros and matadors is what we’ve been doing in all the previous Toro games. Of course, it wouldn’t make sense for ELK not to include the flagship mechanic of the series, but some more innovation would be needed for us to be really impressed.

Despite all that, we still enjoyed the game, and we think you guys will aswell. It features some gorgeous graphics, a nice tune, and although the mechanics are not groundbreaking, they offer an exciting session.
