Introduction to Prosperity Lanterns

Prosperity Lanterns is a casino slot from Pocket Games Soft that invites us to a Chinese lantern festival. Eastern-themed, more specifically Chinese-themed, games are among the most prolific slot releases in the industry, and it almost seems like every studio has to release at least one, or a few dozen, of these games each year. Prosperity Lanterns, while delivering on a casual and cozy setting, isn’t the most original thing we’ve seen, but it doesn’t have to be, even when we usually praise Pocket Games Soft for having somewhat interesting ideas when it comes to their themes, as seen with releases like Tornado Rampage and Monkeys Wild Party. When it comes to its gameplay, Prosperity Lanterns is pretty basic, as it is a mobile-first release, but it does have some pretty interesting mechanics in its bonus game. This is a Prize Symbol-centric game, where the two main features, the Mini Bonus and Bonus Game, are all about collecting and cashing out on as many Prize Symbols as possible, sprinkled in with Multipliers up to 1,000X. So, tag along to a not-so-original setting, but with a cozy vibe and lanterns filled with Prizes that will help you reach the max win of 10,000X the bet.

Pocket Games Soft delivers on a Chinese-themed game set during a lantern festival, where lantern Prize Symbols fly upwards during the bonus game, filling up rows and unlocking Multipliers.

Theme, Gameplay, & Payouts

Prosperity Lanterns is a video slot from Pocket Games Soft with 5 Reels, 3 Rows, and 20 Paylines. You can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.2 and a Max.bet of 100. Prosperity Lanterns comes with a higher-than-average RTP of 96.77%, a hit frequency of 34.01%, high volatility, and a solid max win of 10,000X the bet.

Set beneath an entrance to a temple, Prosperity Lanterns playing grid, while simple, comes with a range of thematic Symbols, such as the afore-mentioned lanterns serving as Prize Symbols and Dancing Lions as the Wilds. During the bonus game, the sun sets, and the sky, as well as the playing grid, becomes filled with lanterns. You can play the game on most mobiles, desktops, and notepads.

The lower-paying symbols are blue clovers, red hearts, and purple spades. The higher-paying symbols are gold coins, a blue coin, a heart talisman, a bag of gold, a goud, and a pot of gold. At the time of writing, Pocket Games Studios has not published the game’s paytable, but we will update this as soon as we have more information. The game also comes with two types of Special Symbols, including the Wild and Prize Symbols, which we go over in the Feature section.

Wild Symbols

Wild Symbols help form winning combinations by being able to substitute for all symbols except Prize Symbols

Prize Symbols

Prize Symbols can appear on all reels with a random Cash Value ranging from 2X to 50X the bet. However, Prize Symbols can only pay out in the Mini Bonus or Bonus Game.

Mini Bonus

Randomly on any base game spin, the Mini Bonus may trigger, granting you a special playing grid where only Prize Symbols may appear and 3 spins that reset on each Prize Symbol. All Prize Symbols float to the top of the playing grid, and for each row that is filled with Prize Symbols, they will get a Multiplier that depends on the row, going from 2X, 3X, to 5X, from the top to bottom rows. The Mini Bonus ends when the spin counter reaches 0 or all positions are filled.

Bonus Game

By landing 6 or more Prize Symbols in the base game, you will be awarded the Bonus Game with 3 Spins. This plays identically to the Mini Bonus, except with additional rows with more Multipliers. For each filled row, it will be removed from the playing grid, and an additional row will be added at the bottom with a new Multiplier, starting at 10X up to a maximum of 1,000X.

Final Thoughts on Prosperity Lanterns

We would be lying if we said that Prosperity Lanterns visuals leave an impression, as while we enjoy its vibes, its theme and colors make the game look like most other similarly themed releases. Then, taking into account that this is a mobile-first release, the game is competing for a lot of attention in a smaller pond, and that pond already has quite a lot of Chinese-themed releases. We usually say that Pocket Games Soft has some sort of way to draw the attention or interest of players in most of their releases, but outside of better-than-average graphics, there isn’t much that we feel can visually compel people to check out the game.

Gameplay-wise, Prosperity Lanterns takes some inspiration from Farmstead Fortune, being a game centered around a Mini Bonus and Bonus Game, but they don’t play out the same way. Even so, it does come with the same critique that we feel that the Mini Bonus, while okay at breaking up the monotony of regular spins, just isn’t as impactful and can feel a bit disappointing compared to the regular Bonus Game. But we do want to give them praise that the Mini Bonus is at least somewhat volatile, thanks to being able to cap out at a 10X Multiplier. However, we prefer the Bonus Game, as it plays smoothly and its increasingly higher Multipliers are exciting to chase, as well as being the only way to hit the max win of 10,000X the bet. All in all, Prosperity Lanterns may fall a bit flat with its presentation, but it does offer some fun features in a rather simple package, which can be both a pro and a con.

Prosperity Lanterns is a simple, Prize Symbols-centric release built around its Mini Bonus and Bonus Game, which has the same core gameplay loop, just one with progressively higher Multipliers to really boost the payouts.
