Earlier this year, Pirots was released. We gave it a rating of 8.5/10 and anticipated a successful release from ELK. “What happens next will blow your mind”. Something like that at least. The game went on to be ELK’s most popular release of all time, by far. We also got to experience it, the demand of Pirots. Over on our live stream Casinodaddy, we’ve never seen a more requested game. Messages like “Pirots pls” are thrown at us daily, even though the game has been out for months. Thus, a sequel was inevitable. When it comes to fine things like Pirots, we don’t have a whole lot of patience, so we sat down for an interview with Fredrik from ELK a month ago if you want to check that out. 

The immense success of its predecessor will however put a lot of pressure on Pirots 2 to perform, so let’s see what ELK has cooked up

Pirots 2 is a video slot from ELK Studios that features a setup of 6-8 reels and 6-8 rows. Players can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.2 and a Max.bet of 100. The game has a below-par RTP of 94%, a hit frequency of 25.4%, high volatility action, and a potential max win of 10000x the bet. 

Although a lot of mechanics have stayed the same to stay true to the game’s core, a few things have been added. The features are CollectR, Wild Symbol, Scatter Symbol, Upgrade Symbol, Coin Symbol, Red Button, Popcorn Symbol, Egg Symbol, Transform Symbol, Free Spins, and X-iter Buys. 

Pirots 2 Slot Information

Off we go to the… Amazon Rainforest amusement park? Jurassic Park? Quite a nice change of scenery. The grid and our feathery friends are still very similar, but the graphics are stronger, and ELK has added a perfect amount of new details to make the game look new, while still being such an obvious sequel. A roller coaster slithers along the treetops, but if you are to ride it, be cautious of the dinosaurs roaming the forest. 

Pirots 2 can be played on all common mobile devices and desktops. A winning combination is created by a Pirot collecting a feature symbol or a paying symbol with the same color as the Pirot. For that to happen, it needs to land next to it, vertically or horizontally.

The lower-paying symbols are blue and green ambers. Collecting a fully upgraded blue symbol will pay 10x, while a green one pays 15x. The higher-paying symbols include purple and red ambers, paying 20x and 50x the bet, respectively, if max upgraded. Plenty of feature symbols are present to boost your winnings, but more on that in the next section.

CollectR

What made Pirots unique was the CollectR mechanic. It doesn’t use payways or paylines. Instead, blue Pirots will collect blue symbols or feature symbols adjacent to it, and red Pirots will collect red symbols, etc. 

Wild Symbol

Wild symbols enable more winning combinations by substituting for other paying symbols. 

Scatter Symbol

Collecting 3 Scatter symbols (Bonus) triggers the Free Spins feature.

Upgrade Symbol

The paying color symbols have 7 payout levels, and you can upgrade them by landing arrows. A gray arrow will upgrade the payout level of the Pirot collecting its color, while the multicolored arrow upgrades all amber symbols. 

Coin Symbol

Coins come with multipliers attached to them, ranging from 5x to Max Win (10000x). Collecting a 5x coin will pay 5 times your base bet. 

Red Button

Collecting a Red Button triggers a meteor strike that explodes symbols and expands the game grid up to a maximum of 8 reels and 8 rows. 

Popcorn Symbol

The Popcorn symbol fills empty grid spaces with popcorn when it is collected by a bird. This allows the birds to cross the empty spaces one time each to reach additional clusters of symbols. 

Egg Symbol

An Egg Symbol collected by a Pirot hatches a dinosaur at the end of the game round. The birds are then scared away from the game grid, forcing them to redrop and land in new places. 

Transform Symbol

A collected Transform symbol (mushroom) transforms a cluster of Amber symbols next to the Pirot into the same color as the Pirot that collected the symbol. It may also convert a random number of Amber symbols into feature symbols.

Symbol Collection Meter

Collected Amber symbols and Wild symbols add to the Symbol Collection Meter above the grid. When full, three feature symbols are added to the grid. 

Free Spins

Collecting 3 Scatter symbols awards 5 Free Spins. During Free Spins, the grid size, the progress on the symbol collection meter, the collection of additional bonus symbols, and the payout level of the amber symbols are all persistent.

X-iter Buys

As per usual, 5 different X-iter buys are available at various costs:

3x = Activates the bonus hunt, more than quadrupling your change to trigger the Free Spins on each spin.

10x = Activates the popcorn fiesta, giving you a spin where the popcorn feature is activated.

25x = Gives you a spin with maximum grid size.

100x = Triggers the Free Spins feature.

500x = Triggers the Super Free Spins, which is played with maximum grid size, and where all upgrade symbols always upgrade all Amber symbols. 

Pirots 2 Slot Conclusion

That about wraps it up for this highly anticipated sequel. More often than not, sequels fail to live up to the expectations they bring. Pirots brought something completely new to the table, but now when that’s out there, it demands even more from Pirots 2. 

The first game had a few flaws, but we overlooked it since the positives outweighed them. Thus, we’re very happy to see that some concerns have been resolved. In Pirots 1, feature symbols from the collection meter that landed after 3 Scatters had been collected could never be collected. This was a huge annoyance, as you could grind several chests, and then your progress was wasted. Now, your chests will instead be stored and put out in the bonus instead. This might not sound like a big deal, but anyone who played Pirots a lot will know that it’s a fantastic change.

Due to its clear similarity to its predecessor, we expect two camps in this one as well. It feels more so like a patched, upgraded version of the first game rather than a brand-new one. That’s not a complaint, though. People who love Pirots really love it. It’s not like any other game out there, so it would be absurd if ELK decided to change it up too much. Instead, some sweet features have been added, and problems have been dealt with whilst still remaining true to the soul of Pirots.  

Pirots 2 by ELK Studios is a sequel to a true blockbuster, where a few neat changes make this a very interesting release.
