Reaper Wild Symbols

The Reaper Wild Symbol is a moving Wild Symbol that helps form winning combinations by being able to substitute for all symbols except Scatter Symbols. When a Reaper Wild Symbol lands, it will award a random position on the Feature Row and start walking to the left, awarding a Respin for each step until it has left the playing grid.

Wild Battle

If a Phoenix and a Reaper Wild land on the same row, or adjacent to each other vertically, a Wild Battle will start with the Winner gaining a multiplier, or both gaining one if the battle is a draw. If the Phoenix wins, it will remove all low symbols on the next Respin, and if the Reaper wins, the Phoenix scatters 1-5 Feather Wilds across the grid, acting like regular Wild Symbols. 

Feature Row

The Feature Row sits on top of the reels and has 5 locked positions. Landing a Phoenix Wild or Reaper Wild will unlock one position before any win is evaluated. The unlocked position will then spin to reveal one of the Feature Row symbols, with most of the bonuses being the Split Bonus, which splits symbols on the game grid differently, increasing the number of ways to win. The various Feature Row Bonuses are as follows:

Split All = Increases the ways to win of all positions on the grid by +1.

Split Right = Selects a random position on the reel underneath the Feature Row Symbol and increases its way to win, along with all positions on the same row to its right, by +1.

If a Feature Row symbol with a splitting effect lands above a reel that a Reaper Wild Symbol is on, the split effect becomes stronger, doubling its effect. If a Split Effect lands on a symbol position that is already at six ways, the symbol position instead becomes Six Wild Feathers, acting as a regular wild symbol with 6 ways.

Random Skull Bonuses

There are two skulls that sit above the playing grid, which can activate randomly on any spin, granting random rewards based on which skull gets activated.

Phoenix Skull = Once activated, it explodes, adding 1-3 Phoenix Wilds to the reels, unlocking the Feature Row, and awarding one Respin per Phoenix Wild.

Reaper Skull = Once activated, it will add a Reaper Symbol to a random position, and any unlocked Feature Row Positions stay active for the rest of the Respins.

Free Spins

Landing 3, 4, or 5 Scatter Symbols will award 6, 8, or 10 initial Free Spins, which will award you with a Phoenix Wild Symbol. As we mentioned in our review for the prequel all those years ago, Phoenix Graveyard 2 is quite a spectacular game that shows the passion, creativity, and hard work that went into making something this big. Alongside one of the studio's poster children, the Pirots series, players are always anticipating the next release, and Phoenix Graveyard 2 is definitely among the top, which we can say confidently that it was worth the wait. From a visuals and setting standpoint, Phoenix Graveyard 2 takes the cake for being one of the best-looking games we’ve had the pleasure of playing for quite a while. But it is more than just graphics, as even just the theming and setting does so much for the game as a whole, and is an extreme step-up from the prequel. There is just something that makes the game so good at immersing the player, be it from the fun and quick spins, the soundtracks, or even the more minor details like the weather effects that change throughout the game.

But let’s take a step away from us gushing about the game's looks and instead talk about the gameplay. Starting off, we have the stats, and while the first game wasn’t famous for having impressive stats, we sadly have a bit of a step-down, as the game comes with a RTP of 94%, but the rest of the stats, such as the 25% hit frequency is pretty solid, and we can’t ignore the max win of 25,000X the bet. But all of that is probably a pretty good trade-off for the amount of features and upgrades we’ve gotten from the first game. The Phoenix and Reaper Wild Symbols now have even more of a presence and can be a lot more impactful through the Wild Battles, Random Skull Bonuses, and Feature Row Bonuses. Speaking of the Feature Row, while Splits were a central part of the original game, and still are, resulting in significant increases to the ways to win, we have to say that that the many bonuses that comes out of Feature Row feel a bit samey, as many of them do the same thing, just in different directions. But on the bright side, it leads to the reels being taken over with Splits and leads to more consistent payouts. This can be seen in none other than the Super Free Spins, as the normal Free Spins are just a slight difference from the base game. When you trigger the Super, it instantly activates all Feature Rows with the Splitting Effects being powered up, which is very quickly apparent and helps form those big wins you’re hunting down.
