Introduction to Gone Bassin: Catch & Cash

Gone Bassin: Catch & Cash is a casino slot from Octoplay with a familiar fishing theme. We’ve previously seen Octoplay throw the fishing net in the game Cod Chaos: Net Profit, reeling in fans of this popular slot theme. Here, you get the same old fishing theme without any surprises or major changes to an already proven formula. The game revolves around a Cash Collect feature, where the Wild Fisherman catches all Cash Symbols in view. We are guessing this sounds very familiar; however, the provider has included a Spin Progress that’s activated every 25 Spins, aiming to create long-term interest. This new release might find an audience for fishing slot connoisseurs, but we doubt it will make a splash due to its lack of innovation and repetitive feature list. Theme, Gameplay, & Payouts

Gone Bassin: Catch & Cash is a video slot by Octoplay that features 5 reels, 3 rows, and 10 paylines. You can select bet sizes ranging from 0.1 to 500, with a default RTP of 95.73%. This game has low volatility and a hit frequency of 13.7%, offering potential wins of up to 5,050X your bet. On average, it takes 150 spins to activate the bonus game.

The game’s design is based on a familiar fishing theme, with a relaxing piano soundtrack. The 5x3 game grid is positioned in the middle of the screen, with the “Feature Unlocked” meter on the left side, encouraging you to keep spinning the reels. All other buttons, including the Spin and Bet Size, can be found below the reels. You can play Gone Bassin: Catch & Cash on all mobile devices, desktops, and notepads. You create a winning combination by landing 3 or more of the same symbol types on adjacent reels, starting at the leftmost reel.

The lower-paying symbols are 10, J, Q, K, and A. Landing 5 of the same symbol type pays 5X. The higher-paying symbols are a fish, bait, worm, boots, and a fishing box. Landing 5 of the same symbol type pays between 10X and 50X.

The game’s regular Wild Symbol has the design of a golden trophy with the text “Wild”. The Fisherman Wild is the Hawaii-shirt-wearing fisherman and can land on the reels with a size of 1X2 and collect all Cash Symbols in view. Creating a win with 5 Wild or Fisherman Wild Symbols pays 100X the bet. The Cash Symbol is a blue fish with values ranging from 1X to 5X the bet. The Jackpot Symbol is a seahorse, starfish, shark, and octopus, with values up to 2,500X the bet. Lastly, the Scatter Symbol is the boat with the text “Bonus,” and landing 3 will trigger the Bonus Game. Let’s find out what kind of features this game has to offer!

Special Features & Slot Mechanics

What is the max win in the slot of Gone Bassin: Catch & Cash?

The max win is 5,050X the bet.

What features are available in the slot of Gone Bassin: Catch & Cash?

The features of this slot game are Wild Symbol, Cash Collect, Spin Progress, Fish Net, and Free Spins.

Wild Symbol

The Wild Symbol substitutes all symbols except the Scatter, Cash, and Jackpot  Symbols and helps you create winning combinations. Creating a win with 5 Wild Symbols pays 100X the bet. There are two Wild Symbols in this game, the regular Wild Symbol (trophy) and the Wild Fisherman, which you read more about in the next section.

Cash Collect

This feature can be triggered whenever a Wild Fisherman and a Cash Symbol land in view simultaneously. The Wild Fisherman is the size 1x2 and will collect all Cash Symbols in view. Important: the Wild Fisherman needs to be unlocked in the Spin Progress feature, and is only available after 25 spins.

The Cash Symbol can land on the reels with values of 1X, 3X, or 5X the bet. The Cash Symbol also serves as a regular-paying symbol type. Creating a winning payline with 3, 4, or 5 Cash Symbols (fish) awards a payout of 1X, 4X, or 10X the bet, respectively.

Fish Net

The Fish Net is positioned above the reels, collecting all fish that appear in view. Each collected fish has a random chance of triggering the Bonus Game with 10 Free Spins.

Spin Progress

The Spin Progress meter is positioned on the screen’s left side, showing the number of spins required to unlock the next feature. There are 4 Levels, which need 25, 50, 75, and 100 spins respectively, to trigger during the Base Game. When a new Level has been reached, the meter resets to 0 again.

Level 1 = Allows Wild Fisherman to land on the reels, activating the Cash Collect.

Level 2 = Cash Symbol starts filling the Fish Net above the reels.

Level 3 = Jackpots are unlocked and can be collected during the Free Spins.

Level 4 = Free Spins start at Level 1, and Level 4 is unlocked and can be reached.

Free Spins

This feature can be triggered by landing 3 Scatter Symbols during the Base Game, awarding 10 Free Spins. During the feature, a Progressive Trail is displayed above the reels, containing 4 Levels. All Wild Fishermen get collected by the Progressive Trail, and every 4th Wild Fisherman advances to the next Level.

The Golden Fish Symbol can appear during the feature, containing a Cash Prize like regular Cash Symbols, but they remain on the reels until the end, and jumps to an adjacent reel position on each Free Spin.

The Level are:

Level 1 = Awards +10 additional Free Spins and 3 small Golden Fish Symbols.

Level 2 = Awards +10 additional Free Spins and 2 medium Golden Fish Symbols.

Level 3 = Awards +10 additional Free Spins and 1 big Golden Fish Symbol.

Level 4 = Awards +10 additional Free Spins and 1 Golden Jackpot Fish. This Level needs to be unlocked by the Spin Progress. The Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand Jackpot award 25X, 50X, 250X, or 2,500X the bet, respectively.

Final Thoughts on Gone Bassin: Catch & Cash

Octoplay dives into familiar waters with the studio’s addition to the popular fishing slot formula. The Big Bass series from Reel Kingdom, powered by Pragmatic Play, seems to be the industry’s standard for how a fishing slot should be, offering Cash Collect, Progressive Trail, and Jackpots. This game definitely swims in the same waters, offering the same old fishing slot we’ve seen before.

So what makes this game stand out? We like that the Cash Collect is active during the Base Game, where the Cash Symbol can be collected up to 5X the bet. However, due to the Spin Progress mechanic, we had to spin the reels 25 times before it was activated. This type of progressive mechanic can create a long-term interest, but here it just felt like we unlocked mediocre features that should’ve been active from the start. In terms of Bonus Game, it follows the familiar Progressive Trail mechanic we’ve seen in games like Big Bass Mission Fishin’ or Big Bass Bonanza 1000. Here, we get sticky Golden Fish Symbols and Jackpots, which need to be unlocked by 100 spins during the Base Game. While testing the game, we made some okay wins thanks to the sticky Golden Fish Symbols, but we would love to see a multiplier or additional features to make this game more unique.

In conclusion, with a familiar fishing theme and a repetitive feature list, this game didn’t bring any surprises. It feels like this game is late to the party, considering Reel Kingdom has been releasing similar games for many years. Obviously, we wish Octoplay had made this game much more memorable, rather than just copying an overused fishing slot concept.

Gone Bassin: Catch & Cash is a slot that dives into familiar waters, offering an unnecessary Spin Progress and an unoriginal Bonus Game.
