Introduction to Fish Trio
Fish Trio is a casino slot from Playtech with a fishing theme. However, it’s not the regular fishing slot with a fisherman pulling up cash-value fish. Instead, Fish Trio takes us to a white beach where three colourful fish hang out in bowls above the reels. They represent different modes in the respins bonus games: boost, multiply, and collect. The features and mechanics are similar to previous Trio games from Playtech, such as Gold Trio: Mariachi Bonanza and Gold Trio: Sinbad’s Riches. Let’s see what type of features the studio has packed into this game for us.

Theme, Gameplay, and Payouts
Fish Trio is a video slot from Playtech featuring 5 reels with 3 rows and 30 paylines. The game’s Min.bet is 0.1, and the Max.bet is 500. The volatility is medium, and you can score the max win of 1,315x the bet. Fish Trio has a default RTP of 95.91%.
Most fishing-themed slots take place underwater, but this game stays on solid ground. We’re looking at a beach from above, and at the top of the screen is the shore. A crab keeps running across the beach, and some other sea-related animals are lying on the beach. Above the five reels are three fish bowls with a blue, red, and green fish. They represent the different bonus modes. To make a win, you need to land 3 or more matching symbols on one of the 30 paylines going left to right. All wins must start on the first reel to the left, and you can access Fish Trio on mobile phones, tablets, and desktop computers.
The lower-paying symbols in Fish Trio are J, Q, K, and A. They pay between 0.8x and 1.2x the bet for wins of 5 symbols. The higher-paying symbols are seastar, urn, sea shell, anchor, and lighthouse. These symbols pay between 2x and 5x the bet for a 5-of-a-kind win. The Wild Symbol substitutes all symbols except the Coin and Bonus Symbols.
Special Features & Slot Mechanics
What is the max win in the slot Fish Trio?
You can win up to 1,315x the bet.
What features are available in the slot Fish Trio?
The features are Wild Symbol, Bonus Symbol, Coloured Coin Symbols, Mystery Prize Coin, Underwater Respins Feature, Extra Bet Mode, and Feature Buy.

Wild Symbol
The Wild Symbol can replace all other symbols except Bonus or Coin Symbols to help create the winning combinations on paylines.
Bonus Symbol
Landing 3 or more Bonus Symbols anywhere on the reels in the main game triggers the Underwater Respins feature.
Coloured Coin Symbols
There are blue, red, and green coins that can land on the reels in the main game. Landing any combination of one, two, or all three can increase the size of the fish in the matching fish tank above the reels. It may also randomly trigger the Underwater Respins feature.
When Underwater Respins are triggered by coloured coins or bonus symbols, the fish that triggered the feature will reset to the smallest size after the feature ends. If the feature is triggered using the Buy Feature option, all fish will return to the same state they were in before the feature began. Multiple coloured coins can land at the same time, but only one coloured coin can appear on each reel. Cash values shown on coloured coins can only be collected during Underwater Respins.
Mystery Prize Coin
The Mystery Prize Coin is depicted by a diamond. When it lands during the Underwater Respins, it awards a mini (10x), minor (20x), or major (50x) cash prize.
Underwater Respins Feature
Unlocking the Underwater Respins Feature with 3, 4, or 5 Bonus Symbols triggers the feature with 1, 2, or 3 extra unlocked rows above the regular rows. Coloured coins landing in the main game can also randomly trigger the feature, with a pop-up showing which fish colour activated it.
During the feature, three locked coloured rows appear above the reels, and the row matching the triggering colour unlocks at the start. Only coloured coins can land on these top rows, and they must match the row colour. On the main reels, only cash coins, mystery prize coins, and coloured coins can land. Coloured coins that did not trigger the feature can still land and unlock additional colours. Up to five cash coins with the same values as the triggering coins can transfer from the main game and lock on the reels.
You start the feature with 3 spins, with each unlocked position spinning independently. If one or more new coin symbols land, they lock in place, and the respin count resets to 3. Coloured coins that land on unlocked rows activate special abilities on any cash or mystery prize coins directly beneath them. Blue coins reveal a random cash value and add that value to each coin below, with possible values ranging from 0.5x to 4x the bet. Red coins multiply the value of each coin beneath them by 2, 3, or 5. Green coins collect the total value of all coins locked on the same reel and add it directly to the total feature win.
If a coloured coin lands with no coin beneath it, it stays locked until a cash or mystery prize coin lands below and activates it. After triggering their effects, coloured coins spin off the top rows. Cash coins use the same value range as blue coins, from 0.5x to 4x the bet. The feature ends when you run out of spins or the reels are completely filled with coins. Filling the main grid awards the grand prize of 1,000x the bet.
Extra Bet Mode
Extra Bet mode can be activated in the main game to increase the chance of triggering the Underwater Respins feature. It increases your bet by 20% but does not change the payout values.

Feature Buy
You can buy a feature by pressing the Buy Feature button and selecting an available option. You can purchase the Underwater Respins feature with one active colour for 36x the bet. Playing the feature with two active colours costs 60x the bet, and you’ll have to pay 86x the bet for a bonus game round with all three colours active.
Final Thoughts on Fish Trio
Fish Trio tries very hard to look fresh, but once you scratch beneath the sandy surface, it quickly starts to feel like yesterday’s leftovers reheated for the third time. The fish are colourful, and the beach looks pleasant enough, but it’s all mildly entertaining at most. You just need a few spins to realize that you have basically played this game before, even more than once. It’s very similar to Gold Trio: Mariachi Bonanza and Gold Trio: Sinbad’s Riches.
The graphics look alright, and the Trio mechanic isn’t terrible, but it’s been reused so often that any sense of excitement is gone before the bonus even starts. The Underwater Respins feature sounds deep and strategic, but it feels pretty slow, and you have to hit the spin button for every spin. The max win of 1,315x isn’t exactly something to write home about either, and the sub-96% RTP is slightly below the industry standard.
Fish Trio from Playtech feels like a safe, recycled release that adds very little to the slot world.
