Peter & Sons, one of the most thematically innovative providers out there, are back at it. In this one, you’ll meet the Animafia crew, primarily consisting of a bear, hippo, and a monkey. Although they’re quite short-handed, you shouldn’t be messing around with them. Currently, a poor sheep is being held hostage by the Animafia, with the bear holding a shotgun in its mouth. Scary situation, but you’ll be fine. Let’s dig in!

The base game takes place by a zoo, as stated on the directional signs at your right-hand side. It’s a really cool setting with three badass animals. We’re yet to figure out if we’re on their side, though, so be careful. When you trigger the bonus game, it’s time to head on over to the bank, where the director is held under gunpoint. Yet again, are we participating in this? Are we the director? It’s unclear, but dope nonetheless.

Animafia can be played on all common mobile devices and desktops. A winning combination is created by landing 3 or more matching symbols on consecutive reels within the game’s lines, starting from the leftmost reel. 

The lower-paying symbols consist of J, Q, K, and A. A full line of 5 with one of these pays 1x-1.5x the bet. The higher-paying symbols include frogs, rhinos, apes, and lions. Power Wilds

The Power Wilds feature can happen randomly, triggering any of the following wilds:

Random Wilds - 4-15 Wilds are randomly placed on the grid

Monster Wild - A 1x1, 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, or 5x5 Wild is placed on the grid.

Scatter Symbol

Collection Meter

If you land 2 Scatter symbols, you’ll progress one step on the progression meter above the grid. By progressing the meter, you’ll upgrade the next bonus you trigger. Free Spins

Animafia Slot Conclusion

In its core, Animafia is similar to the likes of Fat Rabbit and Fat Banker. Like in those two, the bonus is all about collecting a specific symbol to grow the Wild and create some insane potential. So of course, there’s some lack in the innovation aspect, and we think that’s important to mention. 

However, this is a game we don’t really look at as a “re-skin”. First of all, the skin is so good that even if this was a direct copy of another game, we’d still appreciate it. Peter & Sons is blessed with what has to be a phenomenal graphical team. They constantly explore new themes, and refuse to stick to mainstream slot environments. Not only that, but the designs are unique and along with Hacksaw, Peter & Sons creates some of the most recognizable slots out there. For some reason, the studio hasn’t really ascended to that top level yet, where they are seen as an S-tier provider, and we’re not really sure why. The way you build in basegame to create stronger bonuses is superb, as it removes some of the stress you can feel when not landing a bonus. 

The fact remains that the bonus game is a bit too similar to Push’s “Fat-series”, but because of additions and Peter & Son’s personal touch, Animafia is a refreshing game and we’re looking forward to playing it.
