Introduction to 40 Power Joker

40 Power Joker is a casino slot from AvatarUX that mixes a familiar series with a classic theme. It wasn’t too long ago that we went through the monthly Crypto Crown series, a stretch of games identical to each other, just with a new number in the title to reflect their paylines, released just a month apart, with examples like Crypto Crown 40 and Crypto Crown 20. While we weren’t exactly fans of the series, it seems like AvatarUX was, as 40 Power Joker seems to be the start of yet another batch of releases, however, this series isn’t much better, as it is, for the most part, just another reskin of the aforementioned Crypto Crown series. If you aren’t familiar with those games, then you should know that the gameplay is centered around old-school spins with Expanded Wild Symbols and a somewhat interesting, randomly-triggered Jackpot Minigame with a Grand Jackpot that can payout the max win of 5,000X the bet.

AvatarUX first releases 40 Power Joker, a new monthly series that features familiar features such as Expanded Wilds, Scatter Pays, Jackpot Minigames, and a Gamble mechanic.

Theme, Gameplay, & Payouts

40 Power Joker is a video slot from AvatarUX with 5 Reels, 4 Rows, and 40 Paylines. You can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.2 and a Max.bet of 100. 40 Power Joker comes with a higher-than-average RTP of 96.73%, a hit frequency of 23.54%medium volatility, and an okay max win of 5,000X the bet.

Just like many other classic Joker and Fruit slot-themed releases, AvatarUX delivers on a rather boring setup, with a purple, static backdrop and a standard playing grid filled with symbols that we’ve seen a hundred times over. At least, on top of this, we have a somewhat fun and strange soundtrack. You can play the game on most notepads, mobiles, and desktops.

The lower-paying symbols are various fruits, including plums, watermelons, lemons, and cherries. Creating a win with 5 of the same symbols will pay out 3.75X the bet. The higher-paying symbols are classic slot icons, ranging from a four-leaf clover, a horseshoe, a Bell, and a 7. Landing a win with 5 of the same symbols pays out 5X to 125X the bet.

Expanding Wild Symbols

Wild Symbols help form winning combinations by being able to substitute for all other paying symbols. Wilds can land on reels 2-4, and whenever they contribute to a winning payline, they will expand across the reel, thus creating more chances for bigger payline hits.

Star and Diamond Scatter Symbols

You can make special Scatter Pays without paylines by hitting 3-of-a-kind wins with the Star Scatter, which pays out 20X the bet, or 3-to-5-of-a-kind wins with the Diamond Scatter, which pays out 5X to 100X the bet.

Jackpot Minigame

Randomly triggered on any non-winning spin, the Jackpot Minigame opens up to a special playing grid with 18 cards to choose from. These cards contain 12 different Jackpot Values, 3 Jackpot Chance Upgrades, and 3 Bomb Orbs. Jackpots will be awarded by landing 3 of a kind, and by landing a Jackpot Chance Upgrade, the awarded Jackpot will be upgraded to the next level.

Mini Jackpot = Worth 20X the bet.

Minor Jackpot = Worth 100X the bet.

Major Jackpot = Worth 1,000X the bet.

Grand Jackpot = Worth 5,000X the bet.

The Jackpot Minigame ends either when you are awarded a Jackpot or after hitting 3 Bombs.

Wilds expand when they can form wins in the base game, helping spice up regular spins

Gamble

After every winning spin that doesn’t exceed 35X your bet size, you can trigger the Gamble mechanic, which allows you to double your winnings up to 5 times, and up to a maximum of 1,120X the bet.

Final Thoughts on 40 Power Joker

To us, 40 Power Joker doesn’t exactly feel like a new game, as we’re more than familiar with the Crypto Crown series, which at least had a bit of a different theme from what we usually see, but even that overstays its welcome after four back-to-back releases. When we first heard of 40 Power Joker, we thought we were gonna expect a new series in a similar vein, but not that it was gonna be a full-on reskin, which sadly just makes the entire situation worse. Even so, AvatarUX didn’t really seem all that interested in making 40 Power Joker a solid release, as it comes with rather lacking visuals that almost feel outdated and boring, and we’re not saying that just to be negative.

When it comes to gameplay, it’s exactly what you would expect: a not-so-interesting gameplay loop of regular paylines and Expanded Wild Symbols. However, we can’t deny that the paytable does have some good wins. But this is the entire loop, as the Jackpot Minigame can only trigger on non-winning spins, and while sometimes a bit rare, it can help break up the monotony of the otherwise simple spins. If you’re a high-risk, high-reward lover, then maybe the Gamble mechanics could be worth checking out, but even then, we feel like you can find better games with more interesting spins that also sport the same mechanic. All in all, 40 Power Joker is a disappointing release that feels like a game to pad out a portfolio rather than actually something worth playing, especially after the release of the Crypto Crown series.

40 Power Joker is the start of the Power Joker series, which draws inspiration from the Crypto Crown games, reskinning their features and gameplay loop with a new theme slapped on top.
