Introduction to Big Time Gaming

When discussing the most influential iGaming companies, it’s impossible not to include Big Time Gaming. The provider was founded in Australia back in 2011 by Nik Robinson and started launching slot games in 2013. However, it was not until 2015 that BTG released a mechanic that, to this day, remains the most legendary online slot feature: Megaways.

Dragon Born was the first game to use it, but when Bonanza was released a year later, it truly exploded. It was highly sought after, and other providers wanted a piece of it. In 2017, BTG began licensing the feature, enabling other providers to incorporate Megaways into their games. At a cost, of course. That single mechanic brought BTG to the top, and in 2021, it was acquired by Evolution for €450 million. That was in no way the end for the provider, though; instead, it was a boost, as BTG has been able to further solidify its position in the market with the backing of a powerhouse.

Big Time Gaming Slot Releases

On top of revolutionizing the scene with the Megaways mechanic, Big Time Gaming also released the first online slot game that featured a bonus buy, allowing players to get straight to the action in White Rabbit Megaways. Bonus buys would likely be invented at some point, even if BTG didn’t, but we would consider it the most influential introduction of a feature in the iGaming industry ever.

Bonanza, White Rabbit, Extra Chilli, and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire are arguably BTG’s most prominent slot games, and they all use the Megaways mechanic. It’s a feature that has become their identity, similar to AvatarUX and their Pop mechanic. But with games such as Danger High Voltage and Lil’ Devil, BTG has proven that it’s not a one-trick pony but a provider capable of adapting and innovating.

If you’d like to try out their games, we offer demo versions on most of our slot reviews.

Final Thoughts on Big Time Gaming

Although not having been there from the absolute beginning, BTG is undoubtedly one of the OG online slot providers. The fact that they invented Megaways and were pioneers with bonus buys speaks volumes for their influence. Now, many of the providers from back in the day have struggled to stay relevant, and that includes BTG to an extent. However, they continue to produce engaging games and maintain a large audience.
