Final Thoughts on Space Mutants
As mentioned in the introduction, Space Mutants isn’t exactly a very original idea, with a theme focused on small space creatures that crowd the reels. However, it doesn’t need to be original, it just needs to be interesting. Sadly, NowNow Gaming kinda missed the mark, as visually and thematically, neither is very compelling or engaging, and we feel that, overall, this leads to the game feeling kinda forgettable, especially compared to its more well-known peers. But, even then, we don’t really want to write off the game entirely, as Space Mutants isn’t that bad, it’s just lacking in certain areas where previous games just shone a bit more.
When it comes to gameplay, its Cascade gameplay loop works well thanks to its Progressive Multipliers and Mutant Surge Meters, as they work well as a positive feedback loop to both make for more exciting spins, but also to keep said spins going for longer with bigger payouts at the end. On top of this, we have the Astro Mutant Symbol, which, while being rather simple, is one of the more exciting features of the game thanks to its Wild conversions and potential for massive Multipliers in the bonus game. All in all, the game feels solid and is an enjoyable, albeit a bit more casual, slot experience, though it doesn’t exactly feel new, as we’ve played similar games before. This makes us not super inclined to spin away at Space Mutants, as while it delivers good spins, we don’t see a compelling enough argument to stay for longer sessions.
