Final Thoughts on Roadquake
Mad Max is a fun and chaotic franchise that we see surprisingly often used as inspiration or directly incorporated into slot game themes. This dystopian, post-apocalyptic theme can be found in games like Slotmill’s Reel Rampage, Red Tiger Gaming’s Wrigley’s World, or maybe most notably, Push Gaming’s Mad Cars. But before there was Roadquake, Peter & Son’s also delivered on Wild 1 in 2022, which was also inspired by Mad Max, but with a bit more rock and radioactivity mixed into it. Thematically, Roadquake doesn’t stray too far away from its source material, leaning heavily into the scrapyard vehicles and questionable weaponry that make little sense, but look very cool. This is then converted into the gameplay, with various guns and explosives being used for the various features, and so with that said, we can move on to discuss it in more detail.
As usual, we take a quick look at the stats, as they’re pretty good, with a higher than average RTP of 96.40%, a hit frequency of 24.98%, and a great max win of 20,000X the bet. This game, like many other Cascade-centric releases, is all about stacking up Multipliers during chain wins for bigger and bigger payouts. While we saw this recently in Peter & Sons Tango of Chaos, which came with a Win Multiplier, we do think it’s handled here a bit better with the Multiplier Hotspots. Not just because they’re Hotspots, but because the rest of the features are built around them, those being the Special Symbols, which help keep the spins rolling and will upgrade already present Hotspots. The gameplay loop feels rewarding and isn’t all too unbalanced, as while the Free Spins are fun and come with some additional nice bonuses, they never feel needed to hit lucky Cascade streaks, even though they might help. All in all, Roadquake is an engaging game that laid its foundation on Cascades and built a solid lineup of Special Symbols around it, where just about everything you do leads to bigger Multipliers and bigger wins.
