Considering that studios under the Games Global platform consistently churn out reskins, remakes, and marginally improved sequels, seeing a Halloween skin scheduled to release in the middle of October is not surprising. Numerous providers remake their successful titles for such seasonal occasions. However, we would appreciate a release like that much more if there were more visible effort made to enhance the experience. And even though Wishbone has never been known for premium visuals, swapping the original symbols and background with a generic, spooky setting is as straightforward as things can get. They didn't even bother to stylise the Phoenix to look creepier and more frightening. Hence, the game offers very little Halloween character and feels more like a quick asset swap to cram another title into the roadmap.
The original Phoenix Reign didn't score too high in our review, and the remake doesn't bring any reasons to change that. Again, like most slots emerging from the Games Global workshop, this one is based on cash collections and a pot-triggerable bonus, with up to seven upgrades to slightly diversify each playthrough. However, the available modifiers aren't massively exciting either, having appeared in countless games of this kind before. Unless Halloween is your favourite holiday of the year and the first Phoenix Reign stole your heart, there aren't many reasons to give this one a go.
