We’ve talked quite a bit about Koi Falls: Flowing Fortune visuals, and while they aren’t bad and we quite like the setting, the theme isn’t exactly original, as Eastern-themed releases have been popular in the industry for decades. But, even so, we don’t feel like we can fault Fantasma Games for going with a safe choice, especially as the visuals aren’t even that bad. Still, we wouldn’t have minded seeing some more of the aforementioned monk panda, as that might have actually drawn us in a bit more and made it all a bit more interesting.
When it comes to gameplay, Koi Falls: Flowing Fortune is a balanced experience split between the Koi Pot Prizes and Coin Respins bonus game. While simple, this gameplay loop isn’t all too bad, except for the fact that the Koi Pot Prizes can feel a bit uninteractive, as there can be many spins where Koi Fish Symbols only incrementally add on to the Prize Pots. But, even then, we feel a bit split, as we do want to give the studio props for its Progressive Prizes, as it gives players something to chase, especially if you know the guaranteed Must Hit wins aren’t that far off. Then, on the other side of the game, we have the Coin Respins, which is a feature we’ve seen before, and it works just fine. Also very straightforward in nature, its volatility spikes with its Row Expansions and Multiplier upgrades, as it’s hard not to feel excited when you’re just one hit away from the next unlock.
