Introduction to Immortal Romance Assembl'em

Immortal Romance Assembl'em is a casino slot from Stormcraft Studios in a vampire series that started in 2011 with Immortal Romance, which was upgraded in 2020 to Immortal Romance Remastered. There have also been several other releases of this love story between a vampire and a human. Stormcraft Studios hasn’t just crafted a slot, but created a whole world with theme music to the story. If you’re interested, you can listen to the songs from some of the previous games on Spotify and similar music services.

This time, the vampires and the deadly humans appear in an Assembl’em game with a Link&Win respin feature. The five characters, who are also the higher-paying symbols, each represent one of the features in the bonus game. Come with us, and we’ll tell you how to unlock them all.

Theme, Gameplay, and Payouts

Immortal Romance Assembl'em is a video slot from Stormcraft Studios featuring 5 reels with 3 rows and 20 paylines. The Min.bet is set to 0.2, and the Max.bet is 20. The game’s RTP is 96%, and you should expect very high volatility. Immortal Romance Assembl’em has a max win capped at 15,500x the bet, and the hit frequency is 37.29%, which means that more than 1 spin in 3 is a winner, on average.

The game has a mystic look, which suits a vampire-themed slot very well. We’re in a pretty dark place, probably at nighttime. There are some trees around, but also a gate, which makes us think we’re at a cemetery. White candles stand on trays, unlit, and mystic music accompanies the scene. When you enter the bonus game, you’re taken inside a library in a house, filled with leather furniture, and the music changes from the mystic sounds to a song with lyrics. To make a win, you need to land 3 or more matching symbols on one of the 20 paylines going left to right. All wins must start on the leftmost reel, and you can play the game on mobile phones, tablets, and desktop computers.

The lower-paying symbols in Immortal Romance Assembl'em are J, Q, K, and A. They pay between 1.2x and 1.5x the bet for a 5-of-a-kind win. The higher-paying symbols are five characters: two female and three male. They will give you between 2x and 4x the bet for wins of 5 symbols. The Wild Symbol substitutes for all the mentioned symbols in making winning combinations on paylines. It doesn’t substitute the Overlay Tokens.

Wild Symbols

Wild symbols are available in the base game and can take the place of other symbols in order to form winning combinations. However, they don’t substitute for overlay tokens.

Overlay Tokens

Overlay tokens only appear in the base game and serve to cover the symbols on the reels. Once they have been collected, they are taken away to show the symbol underneath. Each overlay token is associated with one of the feature cards that is part of the Assembl’em feature and will only appear when the corresponding feature card is active. Overlay tokens do not have a payout of their own.

Assembl’em Feature

The Assembl’em feature decides which options are available in the Ultra Link&Win feature. You can unlock up to five feature cards and five card positions, each with its own feature. The cards and positions are unlocked one by one, and only those cards that are unlocked and placed in unlocked positions are active.

The game starts with one position unlocked, and you need to make a preset number of spins to unlock each of the other ones. It is only the spins from the base game that count towards the number of spins required to unlock the feature cards and the first three card positions. The fourth card position becomes available when all five of the feature cards have been upgraded to Gold or higher, and the fifth card position is unlocked when all five cards have reached Diamond.

Feature Cards

Feature cards may be upgraded from Ruby to Gold, then to Diamond. Only unlocked cards can be upgraded, and upgrades never reset. Upgrades may occur randomly following the completion of the Ultra Link&Win feature, with the exception that random upgrades are not given after Ultra Link&Win features that you purchase through the Feature Buy option.

The number of active rows the Unlocker Feature Card adds to Ultra Link&Win depends on its upgrade level: Ruby adds 1 row, Gold adds 2 rows, and Diamond adds 4 rows.

The Collector Feature Card can add Cash Collect Booster Coins to Ultra Link&Win. When playing at Ruby, up to 3 Cash Collect Booster Coins can appear. At Gold, up to 3 Semi-Persistent Cash Collect Booster Coins are allowed, and at Diamond 1 Persistent Cash Collect Booster Coin is provided.

The Jackpots Feature Card has the ability to add Mega, Maxi, Minor, and Mini Jackpot Coins. At Ruby, only one of each type of jackpot coin can appear. Gold maintains the same number of jackpot coins but doubles each jackpot, whereas Diamond also doubles the jackpots and shortens the countdown of the jackpot award for each Jackpot Booster Coin.

The Multiplier Feature Card adds multiplier boosters to Ultra Link&Win. The Ruby enables up to three 2x Multiplier Booster Coins, and the Gold allows up to three 3x Multiplier Booster Coins. The Diamond gives one 2x Multiplier Booster Coin, which is persistent.

The Adder Feature Card gives you Adder Booster Coins. Ruby enables a maximum of 3 Adder Booster Coins, Gold allows a maximum of 3 Semi-Persistent Adder Booster Coins, and Diamond gives 1 Persistent Adder Booster Coin.

Ultra Link&Win Feature

The Ultra Link&Win feature may trigger whenever one or more overlay tokens land on the reels. You will play the game with between 1 and 5 features, depending on the feature cards that are active and the tokens that trigger the feature.

The Ultra Link&Win Feature begins with 3 free respins. Only Coin symbols can appear, and all the other positions are blank. Any Coin symbols that land are kept in place, and the respins are reset to 3, while the blank positions respin again. The feature ends either when there are no more respins or when all symbol positions have been filled.

The regular Cash Coins are worth between 0.2x and 10x the bet. The Jackpot Coins pay 15x (Mini), 50x (Minor), 500x (Maxi), and 2,500x (Mega). There are also several Booster Coins:

The Cash Collect Booster Coin gathers the value of Cash Coins that have already landed together with that of certain Adder and Cash Collect Booster Coins into a single cash total for the current spin. A Semi-Persistent Cash Collect Booster Coin is valid for three consecutive spins and collects the relevant amounts on each of those spins. The Persistent Cash Collect Booster Coin remains in effect on every spin until the feature terminates.

The 2x Multiplier Booster Coin has the ability to randomly double up to 4 Cash Coins on the current spin, and the 3x Multiplier Booster Coin can randomly triple up to 4 Cash Coins. The Persistent 2x Multiplier Booster Coin functions on each spin and will double up to 4 Cash Coins every time until the feature ends.

The multiplier boosters have no effect on the Mega, Maxi, Minor, or Mini jackpots, and they also can't double or triple Cash Collect or Adder Booster Coins. The value shown on the Adder Booster Coin is added to all Cash Coins and to any applicable Adder Booster Coins during the current spin; the Semi-Persistent Adder Booster Coin does so for three consecutive spins, whereas the Persistent Adder Booster Coin continues to apply the effect on each spin until the feature ends.

Upsizer Feature

The Upsizer feature becomes available after the Ultra Link&Win feature has been triggered. You get a chance to boost the feature for a preset cost.

Feature Buy

The Feature Buy option is only available in the base game and immediately activates the Ultra Link&Win feature. The cost depends on how many features you activate.

Final Thoughts on Immortal Romance Assembl'em

Immortal Romance Assembl’em has plenty to admire, but we can’t help but think that we have seen this film before. The dark cemetery backdrop, the mysterious music, the gothic characters, and the library bonus room all suit the vampire storyline well. For someone who is already a fan of the series, the familiar atmosphere is easy to appreciate, and it has more character than a great many standard slots, which merely put some bats and a moon onto the reels and then call that a finish.

The issue is that the gameplay doesn't seem as exciting as in previous releases. Immortal Romance Assembl’em is, in fact, just a rebranded version, a so-called reskin, of Links of Ra Assembl’em Power Combo, which means that under the attractive vampire costume, we are effectively playing a game we have already encountered. Although the Assembl’em system, the feature cards, the upgrades, and the Ultra Link&Win feature offer plenty to keep an eye on, they don't make this version original at all. It's rather like dressing Dracula in a new suit and then expecting him to have picked up some new tricks.

The max win of 15,500x the bet is pretty impressive, and there are a lot of interesting things in the bonus game, but we can’t help but think that the game developer has slapped these characters on an existing game just to ride on the forerunners’ success.

Immortal Romance Assembl'em from Stormcraft Studios has nothing of the originality of the previous games. Because this version is a reskin, it’s hard to get excited about it.
