Introduction to Gold Raiders

Gold Raiders is a casino slot from Peter & Sons in which we find ourselves on a team of professional treasure hunters. Filled with Peter & Sons’ typical visual charm, Gold Raiders, while not particularly unique in theme, is a fun and vibrant experience with a gameplay loop that features one of the studio’s favorite mechanics, Cascading Reels. At this point, the studio might just be specialized in said mechanic, and it works great here. The game plan is all about keeping the spins rolling, leaving position-specific Hotspot Multipliers for increased wins, and maybe hitting one of the random Rainbow bonuses, awarding guaranteed wins or Coin prizes. This is then taken to the next level in the bonus games, increasing the chance of Rainbow Symbols and even allowing Hotspots to remain persistent. So, while not the most complex gameplay loop, Gold Raiders does have some depth to it that can lead to explosive wins on just about every spin. So, tag along as we explore what this forgotten treasure chamber holds and go on a hunt for the max win of 5,000X the bet.

Gold Raiders blends a vibrant theme alongside a feature package consisting of Cascades, Hotspot Multipliers, and Rainbow Bonuses for volatile wins.

Theme, Gameplay, & Payouts

Gold Raiders is a video slot from Peter & Sons with 6 Reels, 3 Rows, and uses Scatter Pay mechanics, needing a minimum of 8+ of the same symbols to form a win. You can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.1 and a Max.bet of 200. Gold Raiders come with a slightly higher-than-average RTP of 96.22%, a hit frequency of 31.62%, high volatility, and a solid max win of 5,000X the bet. However, do note that the game’s max win hit frequency is 1 in 50,000,016 spins, and it comes in multiple versions with lower RTPs of 94% and 91%.

Gold Raiders is set inside a forgotten treasure chamber, where gold coins pour out of just about every statue, as seen in the background of the game. Our team of treasure hunters consists of a professional yet eccentric group of people in search of riches and knowledge, and while they don’t offer many features, they do add to the game’s immersion. You can play the game on most notepads, desktops, and mobiles.

Wins are made by landing 8 or more of the same symbols anywhere on the playing grid, thus creating a Scatter Pay combination. The lower-paying symbols are card suits in token forms, including green clovers, teal diamonds, purple spades, and red hearts. Creating a win with 14+ of the same symbols will pay out 1X to 1.2X the bet. The higher-paying symbols include various characters, such as the bald miner, the green archaeologist, the blue photographer, the purple researcher, and the red explosives expert. Landing a win with 14+ matching symbols pays out 2X to 5X the bet. When it comes to Special Symbols, we only have Scatter Symbols that can naturally show up, with Coins being a feature-locked symbol, but more on these in the Feature section.

Cascades

After creating a winning combination, all winning symbols are removed from the playing grid, allowing new symbols to fall down from above. This includes the possibility of creating additional winning combinations, and Cascades will continue until no more wins can be made, ending the spin.

Hotspot Multipliers

After a winning combination is made, the positions where the removed symbols were will become Hotspots with their own Multiplier Values. These Multiplier Values will have +1X added to them for each additional Winning Symbol, and will be added to each individual symbol when wins are made.

Rainbow Bonuses

There are two types of Rainbow Bonus Symbols that can land on any spin, and they are as follows:

Base Rainbow = When triggered, chooses 8+ Hotspots and converts them all into the same one-of-a-kind symbol, guaranteeing a win.

Coin Rainbow = When triggered, converts all Hotspots into Coin Symbols with random Cash Values ranging from 0.2X to 500X, then multiplies them by their respective Hotspot Multipliers before paying out.

Free Spins

By landing 3 Scatter Symbols, you will be awarded the Free Spins feature with 10 spins. During the bonus game, Rainbow Bonuses have a higher chance to trigger.

Super Free Spins

By landing 4 Scatter Symbols, you will be awarded the Super Free Spins feature with 10 spins. During the bonus game, the same mechanics exist, with a higher chance to trigger Rainbow Bonuses, alongside keeping all Hotspot Multipliers persistent until the end of the bonus game.

The feature buy comes with multiple options for more bonuses

Final Thoughts on Gold Raiders

Gold Raiders, while not bringing anything especially new to the table, is an unmistakable Peter & Sons release, apparent from the studio’s familiar cartoony visuals, and, as we said earlier, it can even carry the game’s rather basic theme. At the same time, though, it’s not the best thing coming out of the studio, but it serves as a good enough set piece for the actual game, and we quite enjoy it. But theme and visuals aren’t what most people are here for, and if you’ve read through the feature list, then you might feel a bit familiar with certain mechanics in Gold Raiders, as it takes inspiration from big hitters such as Pragmatic Play’s Sugar Rush series.

However, Gold Raiders builds on more than just older big hits, as it also feels somewhat familiar to Peter & Sons’ previously released Roadquake, but, sadly, lacks certain bonuses and features to truly take this game to the next level. Notably, one of the core mechanics that we think is quite important to note is that these games instead feature Multipliers that double for each hit, leading to a more exciting and volatile gameplay loop, while Gold Raiders instead only awards +1X for each additional win and has a bigger focus on its Rainbow Bonuses, especially its Coin variant, as it is arguably the key feature for bigger payouts. While it maybe doesn’t sound major, this completely changes how the game feels to play, and players who enjoy the high-stacking Multiplier Spots gameplay may feel a bit disappointed. But, at the end of the day, we still believe Gold Raiders is an enjoyable experience in and of itself, as its features, while straightforward, have some depth and volatility packed into them, just be sure you know what to expect.

Gold Raiders is a treasure-hunting-themed release with the studio’s typical cartoony visuals, blended with a Cascade, Hotspot Multiplier, and Rainbow Bonuses gameplay loop for volatile wins.
