When it comes to modern classic releases, we see many games try to pull on players’ nostalgic strings, and while Flaming Streaks may not be a very impressive game for a more modern audience, we don’t fully want to write it off. Starting off, the game is a bit of a weird one, as its presentation is very much that of most other similarly themed classic releases, meaning it can very easily blend into obscurity, but one thing it does have is its modern visuals and somewhat interesting-looking Jokers, which take the place of Red and Blue Scatters. However, functionally, these are no different from each other, which makes us question whether they may have had more plans for them during development that were scrapped. If this were the case, we might have gotten a more interesting release, as the game now offers very few compelling mechanics, which we’re not sure will be well-received by its target audience.
Going over the gameplay loop, while regular paylines and Wilds are a nice combination thanks to the decent paytable, the game is, for the most part, all about its bonus games. One nice quirk about Flaming Streaks that we have to give props for is that both of its main features guarantee wins, and we think this niche may be the saving grace, as outside of it, we’re not very compelled by the basic bonus games. This is doubly so as the games’ wins aren’t all that impressive, thanks to the weak statline, especially its low max win of 1,150X the bet and low volatility. All in all, we wish Flaming Streaks had done something to make us see past the standard classic formula of Fruit symbols and red backdrop, as its features aren’t all too bad, just being pulled down thanks to a lack of wins and interesting mechanics.
Flaming Streaks is an attempt to modernize classic Fruity and Fiery Jackpots with sleek yet basic visuals, but sadly, it doesn’t do much to stand out from the crowd in its gameplay loop.
