Introduction to Duel of Night & Day
Duel of Night & Day is a casino slot from Pragmatic Play, depicting a never-ending clash, where sun and moon fight for dominion over the precious 24 hours that make up each of our days. Well, maybe not 'our' in that particular case, since the game is set in Ancient Egyptian times, but people nonetheless, even if they walked the Earth centuries ago. Two oddly similar divine deities, possibly acting as incarnations of gods Ra and Khonsu, face each other, trying to gather as much power as possible from the 6-reel grid standing between them. Each deity has its own unique symbol that may grant it a multiplier increase, which, in turn, will apply to winning combinations beginning from the respective side of the panel. The bonus round offers guaranteed, persistent multipliers and higher increments when they grow, depending on how many Scatters triggered the round. Regardless of which god emerges victorious, you'll be the only real winner if you manage to land the max win of 10,000x the bet.
Divine Ancient Egyptian entities had all eternity to prepare for this battle, but you may need a bit more practice before jumping into this legendary clash. That's why we offer a demo mode of the game available at the top of this page.

Theme, Gameplay & Payouts
Duel of Night & Day is a video slot from Pragmatic Play with 6 reels, a 2-3-4-4-3-2 row setup, and 1,152 ways to win, which can begin from either the left or right side of the grid. In the bet selection panel, you can choose your active stake from multiple options, starting from a Min.bet of 0.2 up to a Max.bet of 240, which can increase to 360 with the use of the Ante Bet option. With the game's default RTP of 96.47%, you can expect steady long-term returns, although two lower variants of 95.50% and 94.49% are also available for operators, so be sure to check your version before playing. Wins might be less frequent but more valuable due to high volatility, while the top prize from a single spin may reach 10,000x the bet. The probability of hitting max win is, on average, 1 in 14,005,602 spins, while the bonus game triggers at a rate of 1 in 180.53 spins. The base frequency of 25.57% should deliver a hit every 3.91 spins, on average.
The divine skirmish is not taking place in some celestial realm, but right in front of a row of pyramids amidst the endless Egyptian desert. Each of the gods governs his half of the screen, the sun-powered one on the left, and the moon-powered one on the right. Naturally, each part comes with a matching design, either bathed in the golden light of the day or enveloped in the darkness of the night. Between them, a pyramid-shaped grid occupies most of the view, raised on a massive stone platform adorned with carved hieroglyphs. The game is fully optimized to adjust its scene to most modern devices, making it playable on desktops, smartphones, and tablets alike.
The paytable is divided into two groups of symbols, awarding payouts for matching between 3 and 6 instances on adjacent columns. Combinations can begin from the left and right sides of the panel. The low-paying symbols are represented by royal emblems from playing cards, like J, Q, K, and A. They award between 0.6x and 0.75x the bet for matching 6 on a winning way. A cobra, a scarab, a cat, and Cleopatra represent the high-paying symbols. Those pay from 0.75x to 1x the bet when 6 land on adjacent reels, forming a way. The top-paying symbol that awards 1.5x the bet for a combination of 6 comes in two forms, Sun and Moon, each belonging to the respective god. In addition, there are Scatters appearing as a golden sphere inside an ornate, round frame and Wilds taking the form of a bird-shaped mask.
Special Features & Slot Mechanics
What is the max win in the slot Duel of Night & Day?
You can win up to 10,000x the bet.
What features are available in the slot Duel of Night & Day?
The features are Cascading, Sun & Moon Symbols, Free Spins, and Feature Buy & Ante Bet.

Cascading
The cascading feature, or tumbling, as Pragmatic Play calls it, comes into play each time you hit a winning combo on the reels and results in winning symbols being blasted off the grid. New symbols then drop down into their place, and this process continues until no new wins are formed.
Sun & Moon Symbols
Orange and blue orbs encased in a golden sculpture represent the Sun & Moon symbols. They can land randomly on any reel and create their own paying combinations. Additionally, each one can activate a multiplier for the respective god. Each activation increases the value by x1, and the boost applies only to combinations beginning from the matching side of the playing panel. Scoring a 6-of-a-kind win that spans the entire grid will benefit from a boost resulting from both multiplier values multiplied by each other.
Free Spins
The bonus round begins with 10 free spins, during which both multipliers will be persistent and won't reset between spins. Depending on the number of Scatters that trigger the game, the increment by which each multiplier increases will be different. For 3, 4, 5, or 6 Scatters, the increase will be by 2x, 4x, 6x, or 8x, respectively, every time the Sun or Moon symbols land. Scoring another set of 3 to 6 Scatters during the round retriggers it with 10 additional spins.
Before the round begins, you'll also have the opportunity to gamble for a higher multiplier. A spin of a wheel will determine if you'll play with a better value or lose the bonus altogether.

Feature Buy & Ante Bet
In Duel of Night & Day, you can use several options to boost your base game spins or enter the bonus round directly by paying a fixed buy-in that scales with your active bet.
1.5x = Ante Bet with a double chance to trigger the bonus round.
120x = Trigger Free Spins with 3, 4, 5, or 6 Scatters.
Final Thoughts on Duel of Night & Day
Having just reviewed another slot from Pragmatic Play revolving around a divine battle, it's hard not to compare Duel of Night & Day to Zeus vs Typhon. Both games are based on the same premise of owning half of the screen by the respective deity, although the Greek-themed version seems more immersive and dynamic. Perhaps it's thanks to the fact that the actual gods' depictions have been used in that one, compared to nameless, generic figures that only differ by the leading color. However, many entities in the Ancient Egyptian religion appeared as an incarnation of some type of bird, so maybe this approach is not incorrect. Still, a bit more uniqueness on each side would be nice to see, to not make each god feel like a copy-pasted version of the other one. Aside from the leading characters, we can also enjoy a relatively common, albeit pleasant, pyramid-dominated landscape in the background, as well as a somber, emotionally-charged soundtrack that elevates the intense atmosphere of the approaching conflict.
The game's technical side is also quite similar to Zeus vs Typhon, with its leading multiplier feature that can be increased independently for each side. However, this time, we don't get the additional division of the paytable into two different sets of symbols, which brings a bit more freedom to creating wins, especially when combined with tumbling. Despite the multipliers being in the center of attention in both titles, Duel of Night & Day ties them to a specific symbol instead of a random activation. Additionally, it sets fixed increments in free spins, rather than a random value from a specific range. Altogether, it does contribute to a slightly different experience, but it just boils down to a decision whether you prefer to play with or without tumbling and what format of multiplier increase appeals to you more. There are also some differences in stats, with the Egyptian version offering a better bonus frequency at 1 in 180 spins (vs 1 in 398 in Zeus vs Typhon), and a two-times higher probability of hitting the max win of 10,000x the bet at 1 in 14,005,602 spins (vs 1 in ~29M).
Duel of Night & Day brings a relatively one-dimensional gameplay revolving around increasing multipliers, combined with a generic Ancient Egyptian setting.
