Introduction to Bullshark Brawl

Bullshark Brawl is a casino slot from Bullshark Games, doubling down on the studio's name with a colourful action theme, where predatory fish face each other in a back alley wrestling competition. Embracing the traditional Mexican luchadores outfits, they slam and wail on each other in hopes of winning the legendary trophy belt. All that rolling around is bound to break some stuff surrounding the makeshift arena, but that can only mean good things for you. Whenever the wooden boxes burst into splinters, they reveal Multiplier Symbols, which boost the payouts from matching combinations on the grid. During Free Spins, you can lock in up to three different symbols throughout the entire feature and build up their multipliers indefinitely as long as the round progresses. Let's enter the ring and find out which of the festive wrestlers becomes your champion.

Theme, Gameplay & Payouts

Bullshark Brawl is a video slot from Bullshark Games with 5 reels, 4 rows, and 20 paylines. The game offers a wide range of bet options, allowing you to choose your stake from as little as a Min.bet of 0.10 up to a Max.bet of 100. A default RTP of 96.28% runs the game's engine, which falls within the average industry range, although an alternative variant of 94.27% has also been released. Therefore, be sure to verify your version before playing. You'll also experience medium-high volatility, which distributes slightly more return value toward occasional big wins rather than more frequent, smaller payouts. The maximum prize achievable within a single spin is 10,000x the bet, while the base hit frequency sits at 20.20%.

Upon entering Bullshark Brown, you're welcomed with a lively, strumming soundtrack and a colourful, yet slightly messy scene. The wrestling contest is unlikely to be the professional kind and bears marks of an amateur tussle thrown by enthusiasts. There's no roaring audience, no festive decorations, just a back alley lined with trash and coated with posters of the self-proclaimed warriors. Still, you can feel the competitive mood in the air and the determination of the contenders to show off the most vibrant and extravagant costumes. The entire action plays out on a wood-framed grid, where sneaky wrestling moves deliver wins across five reels. Thanks to the universal nature of the design, you can enjoy the game on any modern device, whether you play on a desktop, smartphone, or tablet.

The paytable consists of two sets of regular symbols that award payouts when you match at least 3 on any of the paylines while covering adjacent reels, beginning from the far left. Among the low-paying symbols, you'll recognise playing card ranks from 10 to A, awarding from 2x the bet for a 5-of-a-kind hit. Premium icons comprise images of a bull referee and four shark wrestlers, bringing payouts ranging from 5x to 50x the bet for paylines involving all five reels. Additionally, there are Wilds in the form of a green mask with the letter W, which substitute for regular symbols and award 100x the bet for 5 of a kind. Scatters appear as a gold champion's belt.

Multiplier Symbol

Attached to the side of the grid are 3 wooden boxes, which are boarded up by default. At the beginning of every spin, any one of them may open and reveal any of the regular symbols or a Wild. The displayed symbol will have a multiplier of x2-x10, x15, x20, x25, x50, x75, or x100, which applies to any payline wins generated with that symbol on the main grid. If a regular symbol and a Wild with a multiplier create a combination, their values are added together before being applied to the payout. If all 3 boxes have been activated simultaneously, the third one will always display a high-paying symbol or a Wild.

Rookie Rumble Bonus

Landing 3 FS Scatters within the same base game spin activates 10 free spins. By default, you begin with 1 box opened, displaying a random Multiplier Symbol. Before the game begins, you can also choose to gamble your bonus for 2 initial Multiplier symbols, with the risk of getting none. You can also get an x10 starting multiplier through the Gamble feature. Throughout the bonus, multipliers are persistent and have no upper limit. Two special symbols may land on the reels to boost your bonus.

Multiplier Symbol Unlocker = if fewer than 3 Multiplier Symbols are enabled, it activates an additional one.

Multiplier Booster = shoots 1, 2, or 4 boosts to a random Multiplier Symbol. Each shot increases the value by x1-x5, x10, x15, x20, or x25.

King of the Ring Bonus

Hitting 4 FS Scatters in a single base game spin triggers 12 free spins. In this mode, all the previous mechanics apply, but you begin with 2 guaranteed Multiplier Symbols. If you choose to gamble, you can start with all 3 enabled. In both bonus modes, every FS Scatter landing grants 1 extra free spin.

Final Thoughts on Bullshark Brawl

With Bullshark Brawl, the studio delivers a lively scenery inspired by the legendary Mexican wrestling, but executed by deadly sharks. An interesting mix, we must admit, and a powerful one as well. Imagining an agile predator like that pulling off various moves on the ring feels like an entertaining concept. Unfortunately, we don't get to see much fighting in the theme, as the narrative is limited to symbols, the static environment, and the big win posters. One of the wrestlers flexing his muscles next to the grid, standing ready to join the next fight, is all the visual anticipation you get. But at least the creators made a small effort to diversify the surroundings with some cool posters plastered around the walls of the abandoned back alley. The wooden ring joins the view in the bonus round, but it remains empty throughout. Overall, the idea for the theme is intriguing, but it misses a more elaborate execution and dynamism.

Feature-wise, the slot comes across as far less exciting than the audiovisual package, and that says something given our assessment of the presentation above. Base gameplay can be frustrating and tedious. Firstly, the multiplier boxes rarely activate, resulting in long streaks of uneventful spins. Even when they do, they can often reveal a multiplier for a symbol that doesn't participate in a win, rendering the boost useless. And when you finally hit a multiplier for a successful combination, it's usually a low value that hardly makes up for the grind. The bonus round alleviates the situation with a progressive multiplier, which, to be fair, increases quite frequently. Utilising it can still be a bit of hit and miss, but when you actually score a relevant combo, you can usually enjoy a significant boost, leading to satisfying wins.

Bullshark Brawl centres around an unpredictable symbol multiplier feature packed into a unique wrestling theme, which could use a little more visual action.
