Introduction to Azteca Legacy
Azteca Legacy is a casino slot from Pocket Games Soft where we go on the hunt for forgotten, ancient treasures. While Aztec themes may feel a bit overdone, it’s been a couple of years since Pocket Games Soft last tried their hands at this ancient setting. However, the theme wasn’t the first thing that caught our eyes, as it was actually the unique playing grid setup, which the studio has played around with in previous titles, as seen in games like Tornado Rampage. This playing grid is built around the 4-5-6-7-6-5-4 row setup and incorporates features such as the 4 Corner Synchronized Symbols and Locked Symbols. These two features, while maybe not sounding all too interesting, are actually at the core of the gameplay loop, alongside the Cascade mechanic. This consists of hitting Cluster Pay wins to convert the Golden Corner Positions into Wilds and unlocking the center pieces to be awarded the Free Spins feature, which, in itself, brings guaranteed Wilds and a Multiplier. So, while simple, as most Pocket Games Soft releases are, Azteca Legacy is quite a volatile title all about unlocking Wild Symbols for bigger hits and maybe even reaching the max win of 10,000X the bet.
Pocket Games Soft delivers yet another release featuring an interesting playing grid setup and built-in features.

Theme, Gameplay, & Payouts
Azteca Legacy is a video slot from Pocket Games Soft with 7 Reels, a 4-5-6-7-6-5-4 Row setup, and uses Cluster Pay mechanics, needing 5+ of the same symbols in a cluster to form a win. You can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.2 and a Max.bet of 200. Azteca Legacy comes with a higher-than-average RTP of 96.75%, high volatility, and a good max win of 10,000X the bet.
Azteca Legacy opens up with us in front of a massive vault, which takes the role of our playing grid, and it is up to us to trigger features and hit wins to unlock its old riches. When it comes to Aztec themes, the game isn’t all that unique, as this is quite a normal setting, and sadly there isn’t much in terms of visuals that are worth going into detail about, as they are, at best, just fine. You can play the game on most notepads, mobiles, and desktops.
Wins are made by landing 5 or more of the same symbols together in a cluster, thus creating a Cluster Pay winning combination. The lower-paying symbols are differently colored gemstones, available in red, purple, blue, and green. The higher-paying symbols are various glyphs, including the green lizard, the blue flower, the purple bird, and the red lion. At the time of writing, the studio hasn’t published the paytable information, but we will update this review when we hear more. We also have Special Symbols, including Wilds and Free Spin Symbols, but more on these in the next section.
Special Features & Mechanics
What is the max win in the slot Azteca Legacy?
You can win up to 5,000X the bet.
What features are available in the slot Azteca Legacy?
The features are Wild Symbols, 4 Corner Synchronized Symbols, Locked Symbols, and Free Spins.

Wild Symbols
Wild Symbols help form winning combinations by being able to substitute for all symbols except Free Spins Symbols.
4 Corner Synchronized Symbols
At the start of every base game spin, the 4 golden positions, those being the 1st and 5th positions on the 2nd reel and on the 6th reel, will all reveal a randomly chosen symbol, excluding Wild Symbols. If either of these symbols is part of a win, the next spin will guarantee that all 4 positions will show up as a Wild Symbol.
Locked Symbols
At the start of every base game spin, the 3rd and 4th row positions on the 3rd and 5th reels, as well as the 3rd and 5th row positions on the 5th reel, will start out locked. These can be unlocked by touching a Cluster Pay winning combination, and if all 6 positions are unlocked, the center Free Spins Symbol will be awarded.
Free Spins
Awarded by unlocking the Free Spins Symbol at the center of the screen, the Free Spins feature starts with 10 spins, with the Free Spins Symbol turning into a sticky Wild Symbol with a 1X Multiplier that goes up by +1X for each win it is part of. During the bonus game, all 4 Golden Corner Positions are all Wild Symbols, and by landing additional Free Spins Symbols, you will be awarded +2 spins.
Final Thoughts on Azteca Legacy
We often state that Pocket Games Soft, as a mobile-first studio, still is able to surprise us with its graphics, themes, and gameplay. However, Azteca Legacy, in most of these parts, isn’t all that impressive, especially its rather lackluster visuals. But what did stand out, as we mentioned in the introduction, is its unique playing grid, which, while not the best visually, does enhance the game’s presentation, as it was the first thing that caught our attention. But aside from this, the game feels rather similar to many other games with forgotten-vault and ancient-civilization themes and settings, making Azteca Legacy feel rather easily forgettable in the grand scheme of things.
However, when it comes to gameplay, Azteca Legacy actually delivers on interesting enough spins that we can stick around for long enough to truly experience what it has to deliver. While we sound positive about its gameplay loop, we also need to note that this is a very straightforward game and, for the most part, it boils down to simple Cascading spins and Cluster Pay wins, which might not be for everyone. Its two main features unlock new symbol positions and add Wilds, which help form even more wins, but can feel somewhat repetitive in the long run. Even so, we enjoyed it for its volatility, especially in its Free Spins bonus game, as having 5 guaranteed Wilds, with the center one with a progressively stacking Multiplier, can lead to some well-paying spins. But, at the end of the day, it’s a feast-or-famine mobile-first title, which is definitely not for everyone.
Azteca Legacy is a highly volatile release with a somewhat niche playing grid and position-locked features that can help create bigger wins, but it can feel a bit too simple because it’s a mobile-first game.
