Introduction to Age of the Dogs
Age of the Dogs is a casino slot from Playtech. The developer has, over the years, released several Age of Gods titles, where we have followed Zeus in Age of the Gods: King of Olympus and the sun god Helios in Age of the Gods: Helios. We have also played games featuring epic Troy warriors, glorious griffins, and Norse gods. This time, Playtech gives us a cluster game with quite a twist. Age of the Dogs features four dogs with divine powers (and divine Greek names). They can expand the grid, drop Wild Symbols, and transform symbols, among other things. Let’s have a deeper look at how it all works.

Theme, Gameplay, and Payouts
Age of the Dogs is a video slot from Playtech with 7 reels and 7 rows, which can expand in the game. There are no regular paylines, but wins are made by landing at least 5 matching symbols in a cluster. The game’s Min.bet is 0.1, and the Max.bet is 500. The game developer has not yet released the volatility or the max win.
The game is set on Mount Olympus, the mythical home of the Greek gods. The seven impressive reels are placed in the middle of the screen, framed by marble pillars. In the background are a couple of mountain peaks and Greek buildings. The game’s logo is to the left of the reels, and bewinged dog bones are flying around. The scene is accompanied by adventurous music. To make a win, you need to land at least 5 matching symbols in a cluster, connected either horizontally or vertically. The game is available on mobile phones, tablets, and desktop computers.
The lower-paying symbols in Age of the Dogs are blue, green, orange, and purple gemstones. They pay between 75x and 100x the bet for wins of 65 or more symbols. The higher-paying symbols are crossbow, trident, axe, and pole. They will give you between 300x and 1,000x the bet if you score a win of 65 symbols. The Wild Symbol substitutes all symbols except the Scatter and Dog Symbols.
Special Features & Slot Mechanics
What is the max win in the slot Age of the Dogs?
The max win has not yet been released.
What features are available in the slot Age of the Dogs?
The features are Wild Symbol, Cascade Feature, Dog Symbols, Free Games Feature, Barking Bets, and Feature Buy.

Wild Symbol
The Wild Symbol can replace all other symbols to help form winning combinations. However, it doesn’t substitute the Scatter and Dog symbols.
Cascade Feature
A single spin can result in multiple wins thanks to the Cascade feature. After wins are calculated, all symbols involved in winning combinations explode, and the symbols above fall down to fill the empty spaces, which may create new winning combinations. This process continues for as long as you keep on forming new wins.
Dog Symbols
There are four different Dog symbols that can appear both in the main game and during Free Games: Ares, Hermes, Artemis, and Poseidon. At any moment, only one Dog symbol of each type can appear on the reels.
When Ares lands, the grid expands by one row and one reel. After the grid grows, Ares then turns into a Wild symbol. The grid can grow up to a maximum size of 10x10. Once this maximum size is reached, Ares can still land but will immediately transform into a Wild without expanding the grid further. In the main game, the grid resets back to 7x7 after all winning symbols have exploded, but it doesn’t reset between spins in the Free Games feature.
When Hermes lands, he moves across the grid and drops several Wild symbols in random positions. After placing all Wilds, Hermes returns to his original position. If any wins are created, Hermes explodes along with the winning symbols. Hermes can drop between 3 and 10 Wild symbols, but cannot place them on spaces already occupied by Wild or Scatter symbols.
When Artemis lands, she selects up to 3 different symbol types and transforms them into one chosen symbol type. After the transformation, if any wins occur, Artemis explodes together with the winning symbols. The chosen symbol is always one that is part of a winning combination, or if there are multiple wins, the highest-paying symbol among them. Artemis cannot select the Scatter symbol.
When Poseidon lands, he triggers a respin. All winning clusters, along with Wild and Scatter symbols, stay locked in place while the remaining symbols are replaced. If new winning clusters are formed, the existing clusters grow, and another respin is awarded. If wins occur, Poseidon explodes together with the winning symbols.
Free Games Feature
The Scatter symbol is shown as a collar with a dangling bone. Landing 3 Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels in the same spin will trigger the Free Games feature. Once activated, you are given five different options to choose from, each offering a different mix of Free Games and Dogs per spin.
You can choose between 10 Free Games with 1 Dog, 5 Free Games with 2 Dogs, 3 Free Games with 3 Dogs, and 1 Free Game with 4 Dogs. There is also a mystery option, which randomly selects one of the other available combinations.
You will be awarded extra spins if you land 3 Scatter Symbols. The number of extra Free Games depends on the option chosen at the start. Choosing 10 Free Games awards 5 more, 5 Free Games awards 3 more, 3 Free Games awards 2 more, and 1 Free Game awards 1 more. The number of Dogs per spin remains the same as the original selection, and you can retrigger the Free Games an unlimited number of times.
Barking Bets
You can increase the chance of landing Dogs by activating the Barking Bets in the base game for an additional 20% of your bet. It also increases the chance of triggering the Free Games.

Feature Buy
The Buy Feature option allows you to trigger the Free Games feature instantly for 100x the bet.
Final Thoughts on Age of the Dogs
Age of the Dogs feels like Playtech decided that Greek gods were great, but dogs with Greek godly names and some divine powers would be even better. The game blends a classic mythological setting with modern cluster mechanics, making it feel both epic and playful at the same time. One moment, you are calmly watching gemstones drop, and the next, a divine dog is running across the grid, throwing Wilds around like chew toys. It keeps the gameplay lively and unpredictable, which is exactly what you want from a slot with such a large grid and cascading wins.
The expanding reels add a nice sense of progression, and it’s a pleasure seeing how the grid starts growing when Ares shows up like he’s been fed premium dog food. Hermes, Artemis, and Poseidon each bring their own brand of chaos, and together they make sure that no spin feels boring. The Free Games feature is also a highlight, letting you choose how wild you want things to get, whether you prefer more spins or more dogs causing mayhem. Add Barking Bets and the Feature Buy, and you have plenty of ways to tweak the experience to your taste and bankroll.
The game also looks great, and it feels like Playtech has put more effort into the graphics than in some other titles. The dogs' animations are also great, but the downside is that you can’t fast-forward them. Even if you press the stop button, you’ll have to watch the dogs running over the reels.
Age of the Dogs from Playtech is a slot that blends mythology, humor, and smart mechanics into one entertaining package.
