Introduction to 7x7 Zeus Max

7x7 Zeus Max is a casino slot from 4ThePlayer set on the beautiful Mount Olympus. While we’ve been here many times before, as Greek Mythology is a pretty standard theme in the lost industry, with Zeus being somewhat of a mascot himself, it’s still quite a fun setting to be in. When it comes to the game itself, this is a sequel to the fan-favorite 7x7 Zeus, a 2024 release beloved for its expanding playing grid, Cascades, and Multipliers. We were quite interested to see what the studio could be cooking up for the sequel, as in 2025, we saw the release of 7x7 Thor, which felt a bit too much like a simple reskin rather than a proper sequel. Sadly, we got a similar story here with 7x7 Zeus Max, as while it has some pretty impressive pumped-up numbers, such as a new max win of 17,650X the bet, the gameplay loop just feels a bit too familiar to really stand out or feel like a proper upgrade over its predecessors. But, even so, join us as we take to the mountain peaks and explore what new toys 4ThePlayer has delivered on, and let the playing grid expand through godly power and cash in on riches fit for a god.

7x7 Zeus Max is the prequel to its 2024 predecessor, with a gameplay loop centered on Cascades, an expanding playing grid, and finishing a spin with Multipliers.

Theme, Gameplay, & Payouts

7x7 Zeus Max is a video slot from 4ThePlayer with 5 to 7 reels, 5 to 9 rows, and uses Scatter Pay mechanics, needing a minimum of 7+ of the same symbols to form a win. You can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.1 and a Max.bet of 85. 7x7 Zeus Max comes with a lower-than-average RTP of 94%, a hit frequency of 24.88%high volatility, and a good max win of 17,650X the bet. On top of this, the Free Spins hit frequency sits at 1 in 147.9 spins.

Set on Mount Olympus, the game offers a beautiful backdrop of the home of the gods above the clouds, with vast waterfalls cascading from the peaks and gold-clad marble buildings. On top of this, as is usual in these themed games, Zeus stands next to the playing grid, ready to unleash thunder onto the reels. You can play the game on most notepads, mobiles, and desktops.

The lower-paying symbols are various gemstones in different colors, including teal, green, blue, pink, orange, and red. Creating a win with 12+ of the same symbols will pay out 1.5X to 8X the bet. The higher-paying symbols include a goblet, a trident, a helmet, a griffin, and a pegasus. Landing a win with 12+ of the same symbols pays out 10X to 35X the bet. There’s also a handful of Special Symbols, including Thunder Expansion Symbols, Multiplier Symbols, Lightning Coins, and Scatter Symbols.

Free Spins

Cascades

After creating a winning combination, the winning symbols are removed from the playing grid, allowing new symbols to fall down from above to fill in the empty positions. This will continue until no more wins can be made, thus ending the spin.

Thunder Symbol Expansion

Landing a Thunder Scatter Symbol will trigger the Thunder Expansion, either creating a new row or column, or one of each. The reels can grow up to have a maximum of 49 symbols, with a maximum reel configuration of either 7x7 or 9x5.

Multiplier Symbols

Multiplier Symbols can land on any spin or Cascade, with a random starting value of 2X to 500X. If a winning combination occurs or one or more Thunder Scatters expand the reel area, all unlocked Multiplier Symbols will double in value, up to a maximum of 500X. Some Multipliers can also land with a lock attached with 3 lives, with one life being removed on each Cascade or Thunder Expansion.

Lightning Coins

Lightning Coins can land as an attached token on any other symbol and will be immediately added to Zeus. Any Lightning Coin can trigger Zeus, causing him to remove all lives from one or more Locked Multipliers in view.

Divine Free Spins

By landing 3 Scatter Symbols, you will be awarded the Divine Free Spins feature with 12 spins. The bonus game starts at 5x5, and each Thunder Expansion stays around for the rest of the bonus game. On top of this, any Multiplier Symbols that land and are involved in a win are added to the Bonus Multiplier Pot, which will be added to any win. Landing 3 or more Scatter Symbols will award additional spins.

Final Thoughts on 7x7 Zeus Max

Zeus, and in turn Greek mythology themes, seem to be a never-ending bucket of ideas for studios to reach into when they don’t know what to release next, as these themes and settings have been tried-and-tested winning formulas for many releases over the years. But in the same vein, they have also been responsible for many forgettable releases that are rarely discussed. The original 7x7 Zeus, while not the most original, was a fun slot experience, and actually captured us with its presentation, and the same can be said for its sequel, 7x7 Zeus Max, as its visuals are great. However, even with its new visuals, 7x7 Zeus Max doesn’t do a great job of differentiating itself in terms of actual gameplay.

The gameplay loop is very similar to the preceding 7x7 releases, as they’re all about the playing grid expansion, which is the core mechanic of the game, cascades, and Multipliers. But in the sequel, we saw the addition of the Locked Multipliers and Lightning Coins. While more Multipliers and extra layers of mechanics are always welcome, this feels like the studio created a problem and is trying to sell us the solution, with Locked Multipliers that must be unlocked, and the only mechanic for Lightning Coins is unlocking Multipliers. This feels like an attempt to make the game somewhat more complex, but it fails to be interesting, especially since it doesn’t feel necessary. However, with this trade-off, we did get higher Multiplier values, up to 500X from the original 250X, so it could be argued that it was worth it. Outside of these features, the game remains largely the same as the prequel, with Thunder Expansions being a fun mechanic to play around with, especially in the Free Spins bonus game, where they stick, and Multipliers go into the Total Multiplier Pot, which can lead to some pretty explosive wins thanks to the game’s high volatility. All in all, 7x7 Zeus Max is an enjoyable experience, but it kinda fails to live up to its prequel’s standards, as the new feature additions feel almost unnecessary, though they do come with the trade-off of potentially higher wins.

7x7 Zeus Max is a sequel to 4ThePlayers 7x7 Zeus, taking the prequels’ Thunder Expansions, Cascades, and Multipliers to new heights with new wins.
