Non-sticky bonus: What is it?

Depending on the casino, the types of bonuses you can be awarded differ extremely, especially when making a deposit. Non-sticky bonus casinos are considered a better option by most players. But is that true? And what are the differences between a non-sticky and a sticky bonus?

Generally speaking, a “sticky” bonus is used to describe casino credit that you can use but not withdraw. The bonus remains in your account until you have gambled it away, or up until you’ve satisfied the wagering requirements - if there’ll be anything to cash out.

The classic sticky bonus

A few years ago, this bonus could be found in many online casinos. The providers who only had slots from Playtech or Microgaming in their program often offered it.

The concept is simple and can best be described with a quick example.

Let’s say that you got a 100% bonus on your first deposit, and let's say you've deposited €100. The credit is immediate, which is why you’ll have both €100 credit and a €100 sticky bonus in your account. You first place your bets with your real money, and you can withdraw at any time. The bonus would then simply expire.

As soon as you have gambled away your credit, you gamble with the bonus. You cannot cash it out, but you can cash anything that is above the original bonus amount.

Let's stay with the example of a €100 bonus and assume that after you gambled away €50 you suddenly win €250. Your credit is now at €300. Of this, you can immediately withdraw the €200 without any bonus conditions. The Sticky Bonus, on the other hand, expires with the payout.

The non-sticky bonus

In some cases, it would be even better if you could not just play with the bonus but cash it out directly, right? At least that is how most players think these days. You deposit into the casino and get your non-sticky deposit bonus. To unlock this free credit, you have to wager it several times - usually between 35 and 50 times.

You cannot withdraw the bonus until the bonus conditions have been met. On the other hand, you can completely dispose of your real money. However, in the event of a withdrawal, your bonus balance would then be removed from your account. This also applies to winnings that result directly from this no sticky bonus.

Nevertheless, this bonus rule is fairer for most players, as you can cash out at any time and still have a more or less realistic chance of implementing the bonus.

Features of the non-sticky bonus:

Non-sticky bonuses differ from other types of bonuses in that you only have to wager the bonus money, not your deposit;

  • Always read the terms and conditions applied to the bonus before playing it at any game;
  • Non-sticky bonuses are meant to give an extra to customers;
  • Non-sticky bonuses are not all the same, every online casino has its own;

How to get a non-sticky bonus?

As you would do with most bonuses, to redeem a non-sticky bonus you’ll have to select the corresponding offer in the promotions page of the casino – or click on one of the bonuses listed on this page – and follow the instructions of the casino.

You’ll have to create an account if you don’t already have one, and then you’ll have to deposit a certain amount so you can qualify for this offer.

We can’t stress this enough: read the conditions of the chosen bonus carefully, or you’ll be unpleasantly surprised when the bonus turns out not to be what you expected. And remember, you won’t find non-sticky bonuses only at online casinos without wagering requirements.

FAQ

What is a non-sticky bonus?

Non-sticky bonuses have become very popular among casino players because they allow you to make withdrawals without having to complete the wagering requirements on the money you deposited.

Where can I find non-sticky bonuses?

Many different casinos offer non-sticky bonuses, check our list to choose your favourite one.

Can I refuse a non-sticky bonus?

Yes, you can always refuse a bonus, however you might need to let customer service know, in case the bonus is automatic.

Should I choose a non-sticky or a sticky bonus?

Both bonuses have the same goal: to boost the bankroll of players at a determined casino. A sticky bonus will grant you a higher amount of bonus, but you’ll have to wager both your bonus and your deposit money. Non-sticky bonuses, which have terms that apply only to the bonus amount offer a lower bonus.
