Founded in 2020 and based in Cape Town, South Africa, Half Pixel Studios is a new development team that started out as part of Microgaming and debuted with Retro Galaxy. However, this partnership wouldn’t last for long, as in 2022, Microgaming was acquired by Games Global, taking over its distribution business, various studios, and its portfolio of over 3,000 games. Half Pixel Studios, among many others, was one of these studios and today produces and distributes its releases on the Games Global platform.

Half Pixel Studios, even though it has been in the industry for a few years, hasn’t really widened its portfolio as of yet, only having 4 releases at the time of writing. These 4 games, however, show great potential for the studio, as games like Golden Elixir and Atlantis: The Forgotten Kingdom are nice and simple games that are worthy of checking out. Then, on the other hand, we have its latest release Mount Cash, being released in 2023, which is a bit of a unique hybrid slot.
