Final Thoughts on The Golden Lion
The Golden Lion highlights a historical figure that we don’t see much of, especially in casino gaming, which is somewhat surprising, given that many slot themes center on money, wealth, and gold, all of which Mansa Musa had in abundance. But, even with that said, LeoVegas Studios doesn’t really do much with the theme, as its setting is quite boring, with next to nothing to really look at. This does get better in the bonus games, as we do get some life in the game, but outside of that, it sadly falls flat. LeoVegas Studio has shown that they can create engaging settings, even from weird themes, as seen with Capybara Carnival, but they have just not really done anything particularly interesting with the theme of history's wealthiest person. But maybe the gameplay is good enough to carry its other faults?
Starting with the stats, we have a high RTP of 96.95% and a max win of 5,794X the bet. There are many ways to hit wins in this game, however, they may not be the highest, as we have a bit of a lacking paytable, and while you can land the Mansa Collect and Cash Coin Symbols in the base game, The Golden Lion is at its best during one of the bonus games. The Mansas Riches bonus game gives you a few spins of pure Collect and Cash Coin Symbols, which can go up to 20X the bet each, and can pay out pretty well. On the other hand, we have the Wild Free Spins, which play like the base game, but with new Wild Symbol Multipliers of 2X, 3X, or 5X, which can definitely help bump up those rather payouts.
