While it was definitely a fan favorite for many, Betsoft didn’t really seem to care for quite a while, until we finally got a sequel in the form of Stampede Gold in 2024, keeping a lot of the old features with a new, interesting Upgrade mechanic during the bonus game. However, while we’re happy to see a new release in the series, Super Stampede seems to take a step away from the Free Spins and Multiplier Wild gameplay loop, instead coming with a Hold & Win bonus game as its main feature. Wild Symbols
Wild Symbols help form winning combinations by being able to substitute for all symbols except Bonus and Reset Symbols.
Hold & Win
Triggered by landing 6 or more scattered Bonus Symbols, the Hold & Win bonus game is played on a special playing grid where only Bonus and Reset Symbols can land. You start the feature with a 3-spin counter that resets each time a new symbol lands and sticks to the grid, and the symbols are as follows:
Bonus Symbols = Can either land with a Cash Prize ranging from 0.6X to 12X, or one of the Jackpots, ranging from the Mini (15X), Minor (30X), or Major (200X).
Reset Symbols = Will collect the prize values of all other Bonus and Reset Symbols on the playing grid, removing them in the process. For each Reset event, a Bonus Symbol Multiplier will also be increased, up to a maximum of 5X.

Final Thoughts on Super Stampede
African savanna-themed games have been a thing in the slot industry for decades, even before it moved into the online space, and while we may not see as many of these games nowadays, the few we do see usually have remnants of their classic, old-school ancestors. While Super Stampede doesn’t play like its prequels, its Hold & Win-centric gameplay loop has been a common core feature for many classic, old-school releases, even til this day. Visually, while looking good and keeping its calm aesthetic, Super Stampede, yet again, doesn’t really stand out in the sea of similarly themed games, which is a bit disappointing, as we’ve seen many interesting and unique takes on theme with releases such as the Pink Elephants series, which also started in 2017.
When it comes to gameplay, the prequels, while far from perfect, at least had a somewhat interesting base game thanks to their Multiplier Wilds. However, in Super Stampede, these are no longer present, and instead, Betsoft just upped the paytable across the board by a significant margin. Personally, we’re a bit on the fence about whether this change actually makes the base game better or not, as while the spins aren’t any more engaging or interesting, they at least pay better. Then we have the Hold & Win feature, which works similarly to most other forms of Coin Respin bonus games, but with one slight outlier, the Reset Symbols, which both act as a Collector and a Multiplier upgrade. Even so, the bonus game plays just as you would expect and feels unoriginal, making the game feel as if it is trying to reel in its old-school audience, while Stampede Gold at least tried to build on its original foundation.
While we’re on the fence about some changes, we’re ultimately a bit disappointed with the release, as we had hoped to see the series evolve rather than take a few steps back in terms of innovation. However, that doesn’t mean that Super Stampede isn’t worth checking out, as we believe fans of more classic-like games and Hold & Win enjoyers can have plenty of fun spins out on the relaxing savanna.
