Introduction to Orbs of Expansion
Orbs of Expansion is a casino slot from LeoVegas Studios that will teach you all about ancient magic and volatile wins. Before we start talking more about this game, we have to inform you of something, and that is not to allow the game's title to fool you, as this is actually a “Book of” game. If you’re not familiar with this genre, then let us tell you that there is a sort of unwritten rule to name any game with this formula something along the lines of “Book of”, of course, being referenced to the grandfather and father of the genre, Book of Ra and Book of Dead. This genre hasn’t seen much change since its popularization, and Orbs of Expansion leans into this old-school way of playing, as the genre is known for its Expanded Special Symbols, which often only appear in certain features. Here, there isn’t much to talk about in the base game, but the Free Spins feature will randomly choose a paying symbol to become the Expanded Special Symbol, expanding over the reels anytime it lands, and you can have more than one, you just need to be a bit lucky with retriggers. While there aren’t many features, the game is still pretty volatile and can have some lucrative wins, and you might even hit the max win of 8,000X the bet.

Theme, Gameplay & Payouts
Orbs of Expansion is a video slot from LeoVegas Studios with 5 Reels, 3 Rows, and 10 Paylines. You can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.1 and a Max.bet of 100. Orbs of Expansion comes with a lower-than-average RTP of 96.5% and high volatility, where wins can feel like a rollercoaster, with most of the time being rather low with the occasional big spike, and you might even reach the max win of 8,000X the bet.
The game is set in an old forest, where ancient magic was once practiced, and now it lies dormant, waiting for a new wizard to take up the mantle. From here, we have a rather basic action soundtrack, with a nice-looking background of an old building, overgrown flora, and crystals. You can play the game on most desktops, mobiles, and notepads.
The lower-paying symbols are various colored gems, ranging from the blue gem, the green gem, the orange gem, the pink gem, and the red gem. Creating a win with 5 of the same symbols will pay out 10X to 15X the bet. The higher-paying symbols are a magic vial, a staff, a hooded man, and an elf. Landing a win with 5 of the same symbols pays out 75X to 500X the bet. We only got one Special Symbol here on top, which is the Wild Scatter Symbol, combining both of the most common Special Symbols together as one.

Final Thoughts on Orbs of Expansion
LeoVegas Studios came to the scene in 2024 and has released some pretty good games since then, but we are quite a bit let down with Orbs of Expansion. For one, it seems like it’s another unwritten rule that every studio has to release a “Book of” game at some point, and when that inevitably happens, we kinda hope for something to change up the decades-old formula. Here, however, it seems like LeoVegas Studios didn’t want to do any of that, and even changed the title of the game to not be part of the genre, even though the rest of the game screams of it. The theming and graphics style are, honestly, pretty boring and feel like a whole lot of nothing, just your average magical setting with some ruins. But that isn’t to say that we are snobs about theming, even though we do think it can play a significant role in a game's recognition, as, quite often, it comes down to the actual gameplay.
Let’s quickly run over the stats, as they’re nothing all too interesting, with a lower-than-average RTP of 95.6% and a max win of 8,000X the bet. As this game is quite light on features, especially in the base game, where the only thing you get to play with is the Wild Scatter Symbols, the paytable has to be pretty good, and that’s where we can give you the good news that it tops off pretty well. While the paylines can pay well when long enough, going up to 500X the bet, they can still be pretty stingy when landing smaller wins, so keep that in mind. Then we have the Free Spins bonus game, which is basically what the game is made for, and that is its Expanded Special Symbols, and with the previously mentioned good paytable, you can line up some pretty sick wins. The one great part that we have to mention that we don’t see all the time is the Retrigger function on the bonus game, which also adds additional Expanded Special Symbols, giving you more chances at hitting something big. So while the game isn’t a horrible mess that should be avoided, it definitely feels a bit disappointing to us, as we had hoped for more from the studio, and if you want to get your own opinions and thoughts on the game, be sure to give the Orbs of Expansion demo a try.
Orbs of Expansion is a slot that follows in the Book of genre footsteps, rocking Expanded Special Symbols in its bonus game.
