If you’re like us and have been following Relax Gaming for a few years, then you might recognize the title, as this game is somewhat part of a series. In 2022, we saw the release of Midnight Marauder, a simple, Collect & Multiply heist-themed game, which was followed by Midnight Marauder Dream Drop in 2023. However, outside of title, theme, and Cascade-centric gameplay, we’re not so sure if we would like to call this a sequel or a remake of the series, as Midnight Marauder ClusterBreaker is its own beast, filled with features and bonus games.
The gameplay loop is still centered around creating cluster wins and keeping the spins rolling through cascades, but now with the titular ClusterBreaker mechanic that will help create bigger wins. This, along with a Multiplier Wheel and two bonus games, a Respin feature with ClusterBreaking Coin Symbols, and the other being a Free Spins feature with gambling mechanics, makes for a volatile heist show with a max win of 10,000X the bet.

When you start up the game, you’re welcomed to a little cutscene of Mr. Midnight getting a call from his client and preparing for a night of heists. Cascade Multiplier Wheel
After landing a winning cluster, the winning symbols are removed from the reels, allowing new symbols to fall down from above to create new cluster wins. For each Cascade in the same spin, the Multiplier Wheel on the side of the playing grid will double, starting at 1X and maxing out at 1,024X.

Final Thoughts on Midnight Marauder ClusterBreaker
While we’re not sure if the original Midnight Marauder games could be classified as a series, Midnight Marauder ClusterBreaker feels like a completely new game and shares very few similarities with its predecessors. Back in 2022, when we first reviewed Midnight Marauder, we applauded it for its comical, not-so-serious theme and entertaining spins, thanks to its Multiplier Bag mechanic. While we would’ve loved to see the studio build on that mechanic, we also don’t hate how the current system works, and at least Relax Gaming kept to their silly theme, and we hope we will see more of Mr. Midnight in the future.
When it comes to gameplay, the game at its core is a standard Cluster Wins and Cascade-centric slot with the titular ClusterBreaker mechanic there to make wins just that bit more interesting. But as the paytable isn’t the best, the Multiplier Wheel is sorely needed, and even though it isn’t the most reliable in the base game, it works wonders with a higher baseline Multiplier during the Free Spins feature. Speaking of, while being a rather standard Free Spins feature, it does come with a built-in Gamble mechanic for spins and Multipliers, which we thought was quite interesting and rewards those who like a bit of high-risk, high-reward in their spins. Then there is the Coin Caper bonus game, which might have been there to showcase the ClusterBreaker mechanic, but does so well and makes it quite enjoyable for what is otherwise a kinda basic Coin Respin feature. All in all, there’s no denying that the ClusterBreaker mechanic is one of the main selling points, and while some may just look at it as a niche mechanic, we do appreciate it and feel like it has formed the gameplay flow in a great and interesting way, being present and impactful in just about every feature. But that comes with the caveat that this mechanic is a make-or-break mechanic for certain players. So, while it may not be a proper sequel, and while its small paytable is carried by the Multiplier Wheel, it still delivers on a great slot experience thanks to its combination of features.
