Introduction to King of 7s

King of 7s is a casino slot from Octoplay, which is a mobile-friendly and light release all about Wild Symbols. Contrary to the title, this game doesn’t really have anything to do with 7s, outside of one normal paying symbol, as the king here is actually a Wild Symbol, which is what the entire game is built around. Like many other recent Octoplay releases, King of 7s leans into the mobile market, with a straightforward game in terms of themes, visuals, and especially, gameplay. This gameplay loop is all about hitting paylines and hoping to enter the bonus game, which is where Wilds can unlock Crowns for various bonuses that range from Multipliers to Expanding and Sticky Wilds. Although being quite non-engaging, King of 7s hit a charming old-school vibe with its simple features, which can hit wins up to a max win of 3,993X the bet.

Join in on a royal theme, which takes inspiration from classic slot experience, where the only difference between spins and paylines are if they have a Wild Symbol or not. If you want to give the game a spin for yourself, then check out the King of 7s demo beforehand.

Theme, Gameplay, & Payouts

King of 7s is a video slot by Octoplay with 5 Reels, 3 Rows, and 5 Paylines. You can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.15 and a Max.bet of 200. King of 7s comes with some rather disappointing stats, ranging from a lower-than-average RTP of 95.76%low/medium volatility, and a max win of 3,993X the bet.

King of 7s comes with a blue, wallpaper-like backdrop, with its shiny golden playing grid right in the middle. Octoplay apparently thought that wasn’t enough, and as this game doesn’t have Jackpots as many other Octoplay releases do, they decided to slap on the paytable instead for good measure. You can play the game on most notepads, desktops, and mobiles.

The lower-paying symbols are clovers, diamonds, hearts, and spades. Creating a win with 5 of the same symbols will pay out 7X the bet. The higher-paying symbols are a blue horseshoe, a green bell, a red star, and a purple 7. Landing a win with 5 of the same symbols pays out 17X to 77X the bet. Then there are the two Special Symbols, which are the typical bread and butter, Wild and Scatter Symbols.

Free Spins

Wild Symbols

Wild Symbols help form winning combinations by being able to substitute for all symbols except Free Spins Scatter Symbols. Wilds can land on reels 1, 3, and 5, and whenever it lands, there’s a random chance to trigger the Free Spins feature with 7 spins.

Free Spins

The Free Spins feature can either be triggered by landing 3 Scatter Symbols or randomly triggered by the Wild Symbols. During the bonus game, there are 3 Locked Crown Bonuses sitting above the playing grid, which can randomly be unlocked, starting left to right, by Wild Symbols. These bonuses are as follows:

Crown 1 = Awards a 7X Multiplier, which is applied to all wins.

Crown 2 = All Wild Symbols now cover the entire reel.

Crown 3 = All Wild Symbols remain locked for the duration of the feature.

Final Thoughts on King of 7s

King of 7s tries to be a classic slot experience with a modern flair, and it sorta succeeds with that goal. What we mean is that the game has the right visuals and vibe, looking like a more polished version of a game you might have found a decade ago. But that isn’t necessarily good, as the theme and settings are, quite frankly, boring, and don’t do much to really entice players. However, we do understand that, as this is an older-school type of release, it kinda follows the steps of the many games back in the day that didn’t have themes, nor cared about them. In our eyes, that makes it all the harder to really find a place among a modern audience that wants something more thought-provoking than just a colored backdrop, and can quite easily make the game quickly forgettable.

To try and keep players around and wanting to spin for more, the game has to have some sort of engaging features, which, we are sad to say, we don’t think that Octoplay necessarily succeeded with. As we’ve mentioned before, this game is all about Wild Symbols, but at the same time, it doesn’t do anything with the actual Wilds to make them any different from other games. The one new thing that they do do in the base game is that it can randomly trigger the Free Spins feature, which is where the real game actually starts. The Crown Bonuses are the one saving grace, as they increase your wins through Multipliers and more Wilds, but as these are randomly unlocked during the bonus game, they can be quite stingy, and you can have bonus games without a single Crown Bonus, which is just a glorified base game at that point. While players can find a few fun spins, we do think that Octoplay sadly dropped the ball and missed what made Wild-centric games fun, that being, actually creating interesting Wild bonuses.

King of 7s is a slot that markets itself as a Wild Symbol game where volatile wins can appear in the bonus game, but fails to deliver fun spins that make you want to keep going for more.
