Introduction to Jackpot Train

Jackpot Train is a casino slot game from Red Tiger that blends golden casino vibes with tons of bonus games. While Red Tiger is known for its Jackpot releases over the years, Jackpot Train takes a bit more inspiration, especially visually and train-theme-wise, from the typical train-themed releases, as it just seems like most studios in the industry only know how to design one type of train, as seen with the Area Vegas Rush Express series. Gameplay-wise, Jackpot Train is a game all about Bonus Games, so much in fact that it comes with 4 progressively more volatile Free Spins features, and a Bonus Wheel. Outside of these, there are not really any more features, meaning that the base game and spins without a feature trigger can feel a bit lackluster. While regular paylines do exist, the real wins are hit through the Marks, which are the Special Symbols found in the Bonus Games, able to reward you with Jackpot rewards worth up to the max win of 5,000X the bet.

Theme, Gameplay & Payouts

Jackpot Train is a video slot from Red Tiger with 5 Reels, 3 Rows, and 243 ways to win.  You can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.1 and a Max.bet of 125. Jackpot Train comes with an average RTP of 96.16% and high volatility, making it so that each feature trigger can be the way for you to hit the max win of 5,000X the bet.

The game is set in Las Vegas, and from the playing grid, you can see the golden train, the Jackpot Wheel, and the famous Fountains of Bellagio, which is a tourist attraction in real-life Las Vegas. The playing grid itself is a flashy, golden grid filled with star-spangled classic symbols. You can play the game on most notepads, desktops, and mobiles.

The lower-paying symbols are 10, J, Q, K, and A. Creating a win with 5 of the same symbols will pay out 0.4X to 0.5X the bet. The higher-paying symbols are tickets, BARs, a horseshoe, a bell, and a 7. Landing a win with 5 of the same symbols pays out 0.8X to 5X the bet. The Special Symbols are the Wilds, Scatters, Marks, and Bonus Wheel Symbols, but more on those in the next section.

Wild Symbols help form winning combinations by being able to substitute for all paying symbols except Scatter Symbols, and can only appear on reels 2, 3, and 4.

Marks

Marks are left behind on positions after a Scatter Symbol lands on the reels during any of the Free Spins bonus game, starting as a Coin Mark and going up to a Pile of Diamonds Mark. At the end of the bonus game, Marks reveal various prizes based on the Mark, up to the Grand Jackpot of 5,000X the bet.

Free Spins

The Free Spins bonus game comes in 4 different variations, which change the amount of starting spins, and the start Mark left behind by Scatter Symbols after landing on the playing grid. New Scatter Symbols on the playing grid during the Bonus Game will either leave new Marks or upgrade current Marks up to the next level. The Bonus Games are as follows:

6 Scatter Symbols = Triggers the Free Spins feature with 6 Spins, and all Train Scatters leave Coin Marks.

7 Scatter Symbols = Triggers the Silver Spins feature with 7 Spins, and all Train Scatters leave Silver Bar Marks.

9 Scatter Symbols = Triggers the Diamond Spins feature with 9 Spins, and all Train Scatters leave Diamond Marks.

Bonus Wheel

After landing a Wheel Scatter on the 3rd reel, you have a random chance to trigger the Wheel Bonus, which comes with Mark Prizes, Free Spins, Silver Spins, Jackpots up to the Minor Prize, or an upgrade to the Major Wheel. The Major Wheel comes with prizes ranging from Diamond Marks, Free Spins, Silver Spins, and up to the Grand Jackpot Prize.

Final Thoughts on Jackpot Train

Jackpot Train is a flashy, Las Vegas-style game that relies heavily on its volatile bonus games to keep players engaged and keep on spinning, but, to us, it doesn’t have the charm, visuals, or even a good enough gameplay loop to make it all that interesting. Starting with its theme, it’s a bit all over the place, combining the typical design for a golden steam train that we have seen hundreds time before in other games, with a Las Vegas setting, which neither makes much sense nor even stands out. Then, putting this together with an uninspired playing grid and symbols just makes us feel like this game can quickly become a spin-and-forget type of release for many. But, before completely writing this game off, we do want to discuss the gameplay in more detail.

Starting with the stats, the game has an average RTP of 96.16% and a decent max win of 5,000X the bet. As we mentioned previously, the game relies on its Marks to deliver on most bigger wins, and that is kinda needed, since the paytable in this game is rather bad and not something you can rely on, even with the help of Wild Symbols. The Marks are the one thing that the Free Spins features are centered around, and we can’t deny that they can pay out pretty decently, especially with the occasional Jackpots that can pop up. However, these Marks start out really weak, so either you need to land quite a few Scatters during the actual spins, or be lucky enough to enter one of the high-level bonus games from the start. But this shows the issues with the paytable and Mark mechanic, because as soon as you enter a bonus game, you don’t really care about creating paylines, and only want to see as many Scatter Symbols as possible, as that is the best way to reliably hit any form of payouts. Then there is the Bonus Wheel, which is good enough at breaking up the monotony of hunting down Free Spins features, and guarantees an award, which can range up to the max win Jackpot worth 5,000X the bet. All in all, we think that Jackpot Train is a bit of a messy game that thrives in its volatile features, and we are certain some players will love that gameplay loop, but we also believe that the game feels quite lackluster outside of its high-level bonus games.

Jackpot Train is a slot with a golden aesthetic and four progressively more volatile Free Spins bonus games, Jackpots, and Bonus Wheel.
