Introduction to Grand Voyage: Hold The Spin

Grand Voyage: Hold The Spin is a casino slot from Gamzix that blends its typical Hold The Spin formula with a cruise setting. While the boat theme may be a bit unique for the studio, we’re more than familiar with these features, as Grand Voyage: Hold The Spin is a pretty standard Cash Collect title. We would like to go into detail about the game’s theme and visuals, but sadly there isn’t much to go on, as our background is just an ocean, with an old-timey cruise ship floating on a wave of coins, and our playing grid is filled with the classic fruit symbols. So, going over the gameplay, if you’ve played any other Hold The Spin releases from the studio such as Samba Stars: Hold The Spin, 3x5 Joker: Hold The Spin, or others, then you’ll fit right at home, as the game is mostly centered around this titular feature. While the Cash Collect mechanic is active in the base game, you’ll find more luck on your hunt for the max win of 3,000X the bet in the Respins bonus game, where only Special Symbols can appear. So, join us as we explore the Titanic version of a Cash Collect title before it sinks.

Gamzix delivers yet another Hold The Spin release, with very little to make it truly stand out in terms of features, but at least we have a somewhat fancy cruise liner as our mascot.

Theme, Gameplay, & Payouts

Grand Voyage: Hold The Spin is a video slot from Gamzix with 5 Reels, 4 Rows, and 5 paylines. You can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.1 and a Max.bet of 100. Grand Voyage: Hold The Spin comes with an average RTP of 96%, medium volatility, and a low max win of 3,000X the bet. However, take note that the game comes in multiple versions with lower RTPs at 95%, 94%, and 92%.

As mentioned earlier, while Grand Voyage: Hold The Spin does have a theme, it doesn’t really deliver an interesting or very immersive setting. While we do enjoy the 3D cruise liner above the playing grid, it isn’t really enough to get our attention. Outside of that, there aren’t really any thematic symbols or features, with the former mostly being classic fruit symbols and the latter being the typical symbols the studio uses for all their other Hold The Spin releases. You can play the game on most notepads, mobiles, and desktops.

The lower-paying symbols are cherries, lemons, oranges, and plums. Creating a win with 5 of the same symbols will pay out 10X the bet. The higher-paying symbols are grapes, anchors, bells, and 7s. Landing a win with 5 of the same symbols pays out 25X to 50X the bet. The Special Symbols include Wilds, Cash, Jackpot, and Collect Symbols, and more on these in the next section.

Final Thoughts on Grand Voyage: Hold The Spin

Gamzix is a studio that is known for its simpler designs, themes, and gameplay loops, and while Grand Voyage: Hold The Spin has a somewhat unique theme, the studio doesn’t really do anything with it. While we’re more than used to Gamzix and their antics, we still wish we saw some more effort put into the game’s presentation and visuals, as having the hundredth release with the same fruit symbols and vibrant colors does get a bit tiring. We had really hoped to see something more thematic, but even so, there must be a reason for the studio to stick to their guns, and if that’s because players enjoy the familiar visuals or because it desperately needs to hit a deadline, we’re not so sure.

Grand Voyage: Hold The Spin gameplay loop isn’t all that different from titles released over a decade ago, as its base game boils down to hunting for Collect Symbols and any type of Prize Symbols, while hitting the occasional payline. While it’s not the most riveting or original gameplay loop, we don’t mind it too much, as while it feels like a waiting room, the regular payline paytable isn’t that bad. However, the Respins feature can feel quite hit or miss, as regular Cash Symbols cap out at 10X the bet and Jackpot Symbols can feel way too rare to hit. Sadly, this is also the same criticism we have for other Hold The Spin titles, meaning if you’re not a fan of those releases, this one won’t be for you either, and maybe vice versa. So, at the end of the day, we believe fans of Gamzix will find some fun hunting Jackpot Prizes, but it sadly isn’t enough content or interesting features to really keep us wanting to spin for more.

Grand Voyage: Hold The Spin is another slot experience that sports Gamzix’s favorite titular feature, Hold The Spin, with rather basic Cash Collect mechanics to boot.
