Introduction to Gloria Invicta

Gloria Invicta is a casino slot from Quickspin with a grim Roman Empire theme. Rome was founded in 753 BC, and by 146 BC, the mighty Romans controlled most of the Mediterranean world. Here, we are invited to a grim battle, watching a siege take place during dark skies. We’ve seen a familiar design in games like Roman Bonanza and Roman Legion, appealing to fans of the old civilisation. Here, we have decent visuals without making an impression, and gameplay that requires reading the rulebook. With a max win of 18,143X the bet and an average RTP by default, it can offer respectable win potential. However, the complex mechanisms might be too overwhelming for beginners, resulting in an average score. Let’s continue with the stats.

Theme, Gameplay, & Payouts

Gloria Invicta is a video slot by Quickspin that features 5 reels, 3 rows, and 25 paylines. You can select bet sizes ranging from 0.2 to 100, with a default RTP of 96.14%. However, operators can also choose to use 94%, 92%, or 87%. This game has high volatility and a hit frequency of 29.97%, offering potential wins of up to 18,143X your bet.

The game’s design is based on a dark Roman Empire theme, inviting us to a battle outside the city walls. The 5x3 game grid is in the middle of the screen, with the Tumble Meter on each side of the reels. If you want to boost the gaming experience for a cost, activate the Feature Buy button on the left side. All other buttons, including the Spin and Bet Size, can be found below the reels. You can play Gloria Invicta on all mobile devices, desktops, and notepads. You create a winning combination by landing 3 or more of the same symbol types on adjacent reels starting at the leftmost reel.

The lower-paying symbols are 10, J, Q, K, and A. Landing 5 of the same symbol type pays between 1X and 2X. The higher-paying symbols are a laurel wreath, an eagle, a blue commander, a green commander, and a red commander. Landing 5 of the same symbol type pays between 5X and 25X

The game’s Wild Symbol is a golden symbol with the text “Wild,” and creating a win with 3, 4, or 5 Wild Symbols awards a direct payout of 3X, 15X, or 40X the bet, respectively. The Scatter Symbol is a fireball with the text “Bonus” and landing 3 or more will trigger the Bonus Game. Let’s find out what kind of features this game has to offer.

Bonus Game

Tumble

The Tumble is activated when a win is created, and the winning symbols are removed from the reels. New symbols fall from above and allow new winning combinations; this will continue as long as new winning combinations are created.

Wild Symbol

The Wild Symbol substitutes all symbols except Scatter Symbols and helps you create winning combinations. Creating a win with 3, 4, or 5 Wild Symbols awards a direct payout of 3X, 15X, or 40X the bet, respectively.

Wild Commander

The regular Commander can be transformed into a Wild Commander by filling the Meter on the side of the reels.

Blue Wild Commander = Requires 2 Tumbles. Creating a win with 3, 4, or 5 of this symbol type awards a direct payout of 1X, 2X, or 15X the bet, respectively.

Green Wild Commander = Requires 4 Tumbles. Creating a win with 3, 4, or 5 of this symbol type awards a direct payout of 1X, 4X, or 20X the bet, respectively.

Red Wild Commander = Requires 6 Tumbles. Creating a win with 3, 4, or 5 of this symbol type awards a direct payout of 1X, 6X, or 25X the bet, respectively.

Power Up

The Commander Symbols become powered up once they are removed via tumbles. All Commander Symbols are powered up twice after 6 Commander Symbols are removed via tumbles.

A powered-up Commander Symbol loses a stage of power during a tumble rather than being removed, making it semi-sticky. When a Commander Symbol has lost its power, it works as a regular symbol.

Bonus Games

This feature can be triggered by landing 3 or more Scatter Symbols during the Base Game, awarding 10 Free Spins and the corresponding Bonus Game. All options offer a Win Multiplier that’s applied to all wins during all Bonus Games.

You can retrigger all Bonus Games by collecting 3 and 6 Scatter Symbols, awarding +2 additional Free Spins and doubling the Win Multiplier value.

Bonus Game = Triggered by landing 3 Scatter Symbols, award starting Win Multiplier of 1X. Here, both the Power Up and Wild Commander Meters reset between each Free Spin.

Super Bonus Game = Triggered by landing 4 Scatter Symbols, award starting Win Multiplier of 2X. Here, the Power Up does not reset, but the Wild Commander does.

Ultra Bonus Game = Triggered by landing 4 Scatter Symbols, award starting Win Multiplier of 3X. Here, the Power Up does not reset, but the Wild Commander does.

Feature Buy

If you want to advance directly to the Bonus Game for a cost, use the Feature Buy options:

60X = Trigger the Bonus Game with 3 or more Scatter Symbols and an RTP of 96.41%.

240X = Trigger the Bonus Game with 4 or more Scatter Symbols and an RTP of 96.78%.

Final Thoughts on Gloria Invicta

This game provides a chance to step onto the battlefield as a commander in the Roman Army. In terms of design, Gloria Invicta does little to stand out from other Roman-themed slots, offering a generic theme that might be easily forgotten.

Regarding gameplay, it follows the same structure as Big Bad Wolf Megaways, a previous Quickspin release from 2021. Both games offer a chance to boost the Wild Symbol and make it sticky during both the Base and Bonus Games. The studio has included 3 Bonus Games, each with a Win Multiplier ranging from 1X to 3X, which doubles for every third Scatter Symbol collected. It took us a while before we grasped the rules, and that’s after reading the rulebook, which means that it might suit seasoned players due to its decent win potential, but it can be overwhelming if you’re new at spinning the reels.

Overall, we think Quickspin could’ve done much better with the design, and the gameplay felt overly complicated at times. However, the win potential is here, and if you like progressive meters and unlocking elements, it can be worth a spin.

Gloria Invicta is a slot that follows a familiar Roman-themed format, offering decent gameplay within a complex structure.
