Theme, Gameplay & Payouts

Dragonlings 2: The Lost King’s Riches Power Combo is a video slot from Infinity Dragon Studios that comes with 5 reels, 3 rows, and 40 paylines. Bets start at a Min.bet of 0.2 and go up to a Max.bet of 25. The RTP is 96.15%, and the volatility is mid-high, so don’t be surprised by a few quiet stretches. The max win is 10,824x the bet, and the hit frequency is 33.93%, which means about one spin in three is a winner.

You're on a treasure hunt through the lost king's realm with a little crew of dragonlings to guide you. However, the graphics are cuter than scary, although one shouldn’t mess with dragons. Above each reel is a dragon egg ready to hatch, and there's a Treasure Vault meter filling up at the bottom. To the right of the reels is a skeleton of a fallen soldier with armour and a sword, and to the left is a display of the jackpots. You win by landing 3 or more matching symbols on a payline, with the Wild Symbol being able to step in to complete the combination. The game runs perfectly on mobile phones, tablets and desktop computers, so the dragonlings can go with you from the sofa to the office.

The lower-paying symbols in Dragonlings 2: The Lost King’s Riches Power Combo are 10, J, Q, K, and A. They award between 0.8x and 1x the bet for wins of 5 symbols. The higher-paying symbols are daggers, chalices, necklaces, treasure chests, and crowns. They pay between 1x and 2x the bet for a complete winline. The Dragon Queen Wild Symbol is the star of the show and substitutes for all the mentioned symbols. There are also several special symbols, such as the Power Combo Scatter Symbols, the Map, the Dragon Key, and the Dragon Elixir.

Treasure Map Quest

Dragon Queen Wild Symbol

The Dragon Queen Wild Symbol can substitute for any symbol apart from the Scatter symbols, the Dragon Elixir and the Dragon Key. It can also form its own winning combination when it appears in a payline.

Treasure Map Quest

The Treasure Map Quest kicks off the moment you collect the Map symbol. From that point on, every base game spin will see the dragonlings move one step further along the map. There are five stages, and each one will unlock a permanent upgrade.

Stage 1 is the Second Chance Scatter, which activates after 50 base game spins. If Link&Win doesn't trigger on the first Scatter drop, you get a second chance at it.

Stage 2 is the Instant Win Scatter (unlocked after 100 base game spins), which triggers Link&Win immediately upon activation with any of the Power Combo features.

Stage 3 is Free Spins Expanding Reels, achieved after 150 base game spins. In the Free Spins feature the reels can randomly expand by one row.

Stage 4 is the Link&Win Treasure Chests (unlocked after 200 base game spins). Treasure Chests can appear during Dragonfire Link&Win, each with its own countdown, which will tick down as you go through the respins. When the countdown reaches zero, the chest explodes, and you are awarded a mystery Coin or Bonus prize.

Stage 5 is Dragon Queen Unleashed (unlocked after 250 base game spins). The Dragon Queen can appear at the start of Link&Win and will add extra Dragonling Power Combo features.

Royal Raid Bonus Feature

Dragon Key symbols can land on any of the reels during the base game and Free Spins. They are accumulated in the Treasure Vault meter at the bottom of the screen, and once you have a Dragon Key on every reel, the Royal Raid Bonus Feature is triggered.

You're then shown 5 rows of doors. Pick a door, and it will reveal a Coin prize, a Dragon Queen or a Royal Guard. A Coin prize pays out its value, and you move up to the next row. A Dragon Queen pays out all the Coin prizes on that row before you move up. The Royal Guard ends the game, so obviously, he's not the most welcoming of doormen.

If you make it to the top row of the castle, you take a Coin or Bonus prize. The prizes are Grand at 10,000x the total bet, Major at 250x the total bet and Minor at 50x the total bet.

Scatter Symbols

Every Power Combo Scatter that lands is collected by its matching dragon egg above the reels. That collected Power Combo Scatter can then be used to trigger a Link&Win with its own feature, or with a combination of several features by hatching the dragonlings. In the base game and Free Spins, the Power Combo Scatters will turn into wilds. Link&Win always commences with 3 spins. The egg collection is purely cosmetic and has no bearing on how often the feature will trigger.

Link&Win Feature

Link&Win can occur in the base game as well as during Free Spins. It commences with 3 Coin prize symbols on the reels. Each additional Coin prize symbol that appears will stay in place, and the respins will reset to 3. Fill all the positions on the reels, and you win the Grand at 10,000x the total bet.

Link&Win Triggered By Blue Power Combo Scatter

The Blue Power Combo Scatter triggers a Link&Win with the Prize Boost feature. With this power active, the Blue Scatter can randomly upgrade the coin values on any spin.

Link&Win Triggered By Green Power Combo Scatter

The Green Power Combo Scatter triggers a Link & Win with the Colossal Reels feature. The reels then expand out into a 5x5 reel set, which gives the coins a lot more space to land.

Link&Win Triggered By Red Power Combo Scatter

The Red Power Combo Scatter triggers a Link&Win with the Dragonfire Collect feature. The Dragonfire Collect symbol can appear on any reel. When it does, all Coin and Bonus symbols on the reels are collected and awarded, and the Dragonfire Collect symbol itself becomes a Coin symbol with a random prize value.

Link&Win Triggered By Amethyst Power Combo Scatter

The Amethyst Power Combo Scatter triggers Link&Win with the Dragon Enchant feature. Sticky enchanted crystals can appear on Coin symbols or on empty reel positions and can carry multiplier combinations up to 10x. Crystals which land in the same position will combine to form a higher multiplier. At the end of the feature, each crystal spins to a final multiplier, which is then applied to the prize value of the Coin symbol in that position.

Link&Win Triggered By Gold Power Combo Scatter

The Gold Power Combo Scatter triggers a Link & Win with the Flame Forge feature. The golden dragonling breathes fire on selected Coin symbols at random. Each flame-forged Coin has its own spin counter (between 2 and 10 spins), and that counter increases in value after each spin until it reaches zero.

Rainbow Power Combo Scatter

The Rainbow Power Combo Scatter will split into all 5 coloured Scatters. This means it could potentially trigger Link & Win with any or all of the Power Combo features at the same time.

Guardian’s Hoard Free Spins

The Dragon Elixir can appear on all regular-paying symbols in the base game. Each time it appears, it gets added to the Free Spins meter, and there is a chance that Guardian's Hoard Free Spins will be triggered. The collection of the Elixirs is purely for show and has no impact on the odds.

You start the feature with 5 spins, and every Dragon Elixir that lands during the Free Spins adds 1 extra spin. The Free Spins also have a better chance of landing Power Combo Scatter symbols, and the Scatters that you collect are more likely to trigger Link&Win. If Link&Win does trigger, it will start after the Free Spins have finished.

Feature Buy

The Feature Buy allows you to trigger Dragonfire Link&Win with either three of the random Power Combo features for 121x the bet or all five of them for 26x the bet.

Final Thoughts on Dragonlings 2: The Lost King’s Riches Power Combo

We enjoyed parts of Dragonlings 2: The Lost King's Riches Power Combo, but we were also getting that distinct sense of déjà vu at various points. If you've played Dragonlings: Fire & Riches Power Combo, you'll be spot on with the coloured Scatters, the Rainbow Scatter, Link&Win starting on 3 spins, the Prize Boost, Dragonfire Collect and the Guardian's Hoard Free Spins. The Dragon Keys are back, too, which again gives it that director's cut feel rather than a completely new game.

There are a few fresh things in there. The Treasure Map Quest, with its permanent upgrades, is a good concept, and Dragon Enchant and Flame Forge both add a bit of extra excitement to the Link&Win feature. The Royal Raid also takes the place of the old Chamber of Fortune. Rather than picking from 12 chests, you now pick doors across 5 rows. It's a different skin on the same concept, really, and the Royal Guard is a bit of a prick when he ends your climb.

The downside is that the Treasure Map Quest requires up to 250 base game spins before anything at all unlocks, so you do need to be patient. At the end of the day, the game offers many features, but the gameplay on the whole is below average. The max win of 10,824x is quite good, but we just can’t get overly excited about this release.

Dragonlings 2: The Lost King’s Riches Power Combo from Infinity Dragon Studios is a decent follow-up that plays it safe. Fans of the original will feel right at home, while everyone else won’t miss much.
