The game has an RTP of 96.06%, medium volatility, and a max win of 5,486x the bet. Dragon Unchained has a hit frequency of 27.38%, which means that over 1 of 4 spins is a winner, on average.
Dragon Unchained is set on a medieval fantasy battlefield with warriors, weapons and flying dragons. The five reels have a golden frame and are set in the middle of the screen. Behind them is a red dragon with a chain around its neck, and behind the dragon is a castle on a mountain. To the right of the reels is a display of the game’s jackpots. You score wins by landing 3 or more matching symbols on one of the 20 paylines, going left to right. Dragon Unchained is playable on mobile phones, tablets and desktops, so you can fight the dragons with you wherever you want to play.
The lower-paying symbols in Dragon Unchained are 9, 10, J, Q, K, and A. Landing a five-of-a-kind combination of any of them awards 1.2x the bet. The higher-paying symbols feature warriors equipped with hammers, bows, axes, and swords, along with crowns that fit the royal theme. Landing five matching higher-paying symbols awards between 2x and 5x the bet. The Wild Symbol can substitute for all the regular symbols to help complete winning combinations, but it cannot replace the Bonus Symbol.
Special Features & Slot Mechanics
What is the max win in the slot Dragon Unchained?
You can win up to 5,486x the bet.
What features are available in the slot Dragon Unchained?
The features are Wild Symbols, Bonus Symbols, Orb Modifiers, Bonus Feature, Boost, and Bonus Recharge.

Wild Symbols
Wild Symbols can stand in for any regular symbol to help complete a winning combination. However, they won't substitute for Bonus symbols. They can also form winning combinations of their own if they appear in sufficient numbers on a payline.
Bonus Symbols
Bonus Symbols are the key to unlocking the main feature, and they have two roles to play. Six or more Bonus Symbols landing anywhere on the reels will trigger the Bonus feature. If you land fewer than six symbols, they are collected towards random Orb modifiers. Once the Bonus feature is in play, the symbols change, and each Bonus symbol that lands leaves a frame in its position. Those frames stay on the reels throughout the feature, and they progressively build up to the castle prizes at the end.
Orb Modifiers
Orb modifiers allow you to boost the Bonus feature before it starts. If fewer than 6 Bonus symbols land during the base game, they will contribute to a random Orb modifier. Each symbol you collect will add one to a randomly selected Orb value. All Orbs start at 0 and can go up to a maximum of 10.
There are three types of Orb modifiers:
- Extra Spins: Up to 10 extra spins added at the commencement of the Bonus feature.
- Extra Frames: Up to 10 new frames or up to 10 existing frames can be added prior to the feature commencing.
- Extra Multi: Multiplies up to 10 randomly selected cash prizes and jackpots by 2x, 3x or 5x when the feature ends. The Grand Jackpot is not subject to the multiplier.
Any Orb values collected during the base game carry over into the Bonus feature. When the feature is finished, all three Orb values are reset to zero (though one or more of the modifiers may be awarded a new value between 1 and 3).
Bonus Feature
Landing six or more Bonus symbols in any position on the reels triggers the Bonus feature. You start with at least 6 spins, and any Extra Spins accumulated via the Extra Spins Orb are added before the feature starts.
During the feature, only Bonus symbols are in play and landing at least three of them in a single spin awards one further spin. Every Bonus symbol that lands leaves a frame behind. Any Extra Frames you've accumulated via the Extra Frames Orb are added before the feature begins. A Bonus symbol landing on an existing frame will upgrade that frame.
Frames start at Level 1 and can be upgraded three times. On completion of the feature, each frame becomes a castle which will reveal a cash prize or a jackpot. The colour of the castle indicates the level of the prize:
- Level 1 Frame – Green Castle: Awards 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x or 2x the bet.
- Level 2 Frame – Blue Castle: Awards 2.5x, 3x, 3.5x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x or 8x the bet.
- Level 3 Frame – Red Castle: 10x, 12.5x, 15x, 17.5x or a jackpot.
- Golden Castle: Awards a jackpot prize.
The available jackpots are Mini (25x), Minor (50x), Major (100x), Mega (1,000x), and Grand (5,000x). The feature ends when there are no more spins or all positions have Golden Castles. The castles then reveal their prizes, and any multipliers accrued via the Extra Multi Orb are applied to the eligible cash prizes and jackpots prior to the rewards being claimed. The Grand Jackpot can’t be multiplied.
Boost
Boost is for the player who wants to increase their chances of hitting the Bonus feature. It increases the total stake by 1.5x.

Bonus Recharge
Bonus Recharge gives you another go at the Bonus feature after it's finished. If the option is available, you can pay the amount shown to continue or go back to the base game.
Final Thoughts on Dragon Unchained
Dragon Unchained is giving us an exciting fantasy theme with brave knights and warriors and furious dragons. The base game is pretty standard with the card ranks and warrior symbols doing all the usual work, but the Orb collection is a welcome addition, giving you chances to improve the bonus game before it triggers. The Extra Spins, Extra Frames and Extra Multi can, in various ways, enhance the Bonus feature.
The castle levels give the Bonus feature a real sense of progression, with the Golden Castle and the 5,000x Grand Jackpot being the big prizes to go after. Boost and Bonus Recharge both add a couple of optional spend decisions. They'll both give you a bit more of a chance of either getting to the action or continuing the action.
The 96.06% RTP is about average in the slot world, and the max win of 5,486x is on the lower side compared to other modern games. The medieval artwork and the castle rewards stay close to the theme. For other dragon-themed games, don’t miss Play’n GO’s Legend of the Ice Dragon or Hacksaw Gaming’s Dragon’s Domain.
Dragon Unchained from Nailed It! Games is a fairly solid choice if you're someone who likes collecting symbols while watching the bonus round build up.
