Introduction to Divine Queen: Power of the Sun

Divine Queen: Power of the Sun is a casino slot from BGaming featuring familiar gameplay. The Ancient Egypt theme is one of the industry’s most recognizable and appeals with its rich history and intriguing visuals. Here, we get a sequel to Divine Queen: Heart of Ice, but instead of ice, we are transported to the desert heat of Egypt. The studio has kept the game’s core intact, but has replaced the Multiplier Reel with Cell Multipliers. It’s hardly a groundbreaking change from its predecessor, but it might appeal to fans who enjoy a place in the sun and want a familiar multiplier experience.

Theme, Gameplay, & Payouts

Divine Queen: Power of the Sun is a video slot by BGaming that features 6 reels and 5 rows. Due to the scatter pays mechanic, this game has no traditional paylines. Instead, a winning combination is created by landing 8 or more of the same symbol type anywhere on the reels. Players can select bet sizes ranging from 0.2 to 50, with a default RTP of 97%, which is considered above average. This game has medium/high volatility and a hit frequency of 25.25%. While spinning the reels, you are offered potential wins of up to 5,000X your bet, and on average, it takes 234.2 spins to activate the bonus game.

The game’s design is based on a futuristic Ancient Egypt theme, with the majestic goddess standing on the reels' right side. The 6x5 game grid is in the middle of the screen, and if you want to boost the gaming experience for a cost, activate the Feature Buy button. All other buttons, including the Spin and Bet Size, can be found below the reels. You can play Divine Queen: Power of the Sun on all mobile devices, desktops, and notepads. You create a winning combination by landing 8 or more of the same symbol types anywhere on the reels, triggering the Refilling feature.

The lower-paying symbols are blue, green, gold, purple, and red gems. Landing 12+ of the same symbol type in a cluster pays between 2X and 6.25X. The higher-paying symbols are ring, hourglass, urn, and red star. Landing 12+ of the same symbol type pays between 7.5X and 50X.

The Scatter Symbol is the divine queen, and landing 4 or more of this symbol type anywhere on the reels will trigger the Free Spins. Depending on whether you land 4, 5, or 6 Scatter Symbols award a direct payout of 2X, 5X, or 100X the bet, respectively. Let’s find out what kind of features this game has to offer.

Refilling

The Refilling feature is triggered on every winning spin. Winning symbols disappear, and new ones drop in from above to fill the gaps, creating new chances to win. The process repeats as long as new winning combinations continue to form.

Multiplier Cells

Whenever a winning symbol is removed, it marks its spot on the reels. When a winning position becomes a winning position again, a Multiplier is added to that specific reel position, starting at 2X and doubling each time another winning symbol appears on top of it.

Multiplier Cells can reach up to a value of 128X, and all Multipliers are applied to all wins that hit on top of them. If more Cell Multipliers are involved in the same win, they are added together before being applied to the win.

During the Base Game, all marked spots with Multipliers remain until the end of the Refilling feature and are removed when there are no refills left. In the Bonus Game, all Multiplier Cells are persistent for the remainder of the feature.

Free Spins

This feature can be triggered by landing 4 or more Scatter Symbols anywhere on the reels during the Base Game, awarding 10 Free Spins. Depending on whether you land 4, 5, or 6 Scatter Symbols, you will receive a direct payout of 2X, 5X, or 100X the bet, respectively. You can retrigger the feature by landing 4 or more Scatter Symbols, which grants 10+ additional Free Spins.

During the spins, all marked Multiplier Cells remain in place until the end of the feature.

Feature Buy

If you want to boost the gaming experience for a cost, use the Feature Buy options:

3X (Chance X10) = When this feature is activated, you trigger the Free Spins with 3 Scatter Symbols instead of 4.

20X (Random Booster) = A spin with random multipliers up to 128X in some cells.

250X (Booster X32) = A spin with 32X multiplier in each cell.

100X = Triggers the Free Spins.

500X = Triggers the Super Free Spins with a starting 2X multiplier in each cell.

Final Thoughts on Divine Queen: Power of the Sun

BGaming adds another scatter pays mechanic entry to their portfolio, this time with a sequel to Divine Queen: Heart of Ice. The studio transports us from an icy realm to a sun-bright Ancient Egypt, keeping the sharp visuals and inviting design intact. Although we’ve seen the Ancient Egypt theme countless times before, we appreciate the futuristic look, giving the game its own personality.

Looking at the gameplay, it offers a familiar structure revolving around a scatter pays mechanic and multipliers. The studio has kept the game’s core intact, but instead of a Multiplier Reel, we get Multiplier Cells with values that can increase up to 128X. It’s obvious that this game is heavily influenced by Sugar Rush from Pragmatic Play, released in 2022. Divine Queen: Power of the Sun delivers essentially identical gameplay but with a smaller grid. While testing the game, we made some decent wins thanks to persistent Multiplier Cells during the Bonus Game, but it’s hard to get excited when we’ve seen it all before.

Overall, with a familiar theme and a copied gameplay of one of the industry’s most recognizable releases, it will surely attract some attention. But for us, it lacks the innovation to stand on its own and doesn’t bring anything new to the table.

Divine Queen: Power of the Sun continues the series by presenting a familiar gaming experience featuring Cell Multipliers.
