Diamond Blitz 3 feels like meeting a new friend who thinks he’s changed a lot just because he’s wearing a new hat. The game has a fresh number in the title, a slightly different color scheme, and a few tweaks to the feature set, but underneath it all is this still very much the same diamond-chasing adventure we have seen before. Unfortunately, that is not necessarily a compliment.
The biggest attraction is clearly Blitz Mode, which can fill the reels with sticky Wilds carrying growing multipliers. Watching the multipliers climb is easily the most entertaining part of the game and provides the occasional moment of excitement. The Wild Rise mechanic also helps keep things moving, giving players a reason to hope that a valuable Wild sticks around for another round.
The problem is that everything else feels a little too familiar and a little too safe. This release is very similar to Diamond Blitz, which isn’t too far from Diamond Blitz 2 either, although that game at least tried something new with ways to win instead of regular paylines. The max win of 1,592x the bet isn’t impressive either, even considering that Red Tiger has reduced the volatility to low in this diamond hunt.
What makes the game even more disappointing is that it follows two previous entries that were already fairly average.
