Although that is very true, the Kane-looking fella in that one was an ancestor of his, so it’s certainly been a while. This time around, we’re off on a Jack Sparrow-like adventure, where crazy features, tons of fun, and lucrative treasure await.

Of course, Ubisoft was no pioneer when it came to pirate adventures. In the modern mainstream, that would undoubtedly be Pirates of the Caribbean. Let’s not dwell on that, though. There’s a lot to go through in this one, but before we do that, we want to give props to ELK for the audio production, which is an area that they’ve truly conquered.

Dead Man’s Gold can be played on all common mobile devices and desktops. A winning combination is created by landing 3 or more matching symbols on consecutive reels, starting from the leftmost reel.

The lower-paying symbols consist of J, Q, K, A, stingray, octopus, anchor, and skull. A winning combination of 6 with one of these pays 0.3x-1x the bet. The higher-paying symbols include three different symbols with a golden frame and Kane. Six-of-a-kind with these pays 2x-5x the bet. A new gold release certainly has some expectations attached to it. From the mountains of Katmandu Gold to the ancient times of Avalon Gold, the gold-series has taken us through time and place, and we’ve enjoyed every part of it. As slot enthusiasts, or nerds if you may, it’s been a blast following it, as we can look back at it with nostalgic eyes, remembering the good times we’ve had. Oh, and the tilting times as well, of course. Because these gold games definitely live up to their high volatility, meaning that you might go through some rough sessions before getting that sick hit. 

So, where does Dead Man’s Gold place among its peers? The answer to that will of course differ, but we rate this quite highly. We’re glad that ELK decided to continue with the Big Symbols, as these have become a flagship feature for the studio, given the insane potential they provide. Furthermore, the different mechanics blend in nicely with the thematics, making the game feel well worked through. The Bottomless Chest is a nice touch, and we can’t help but get reminded of Katmandu Gold when seeing them. 

Except for the RTP of 94%, there’s not a whole lot to complain about. It’s a great theme with great visuals, accompanied by some intriguing mechanics. We await May 2nd with excited minds and hope that the game is as fun as it was testing out the demo.
