Final Thoughts on Candy Links Bonanza 3
When we reviewed Candy Links Bonanza 2 almost a full year ago, we criticized the game for being a rather lackluster sequel in most ways, mainly in its visual department, and to be honest, we have the relatively same feelings here in the third installment. Candy-themed slot games are often quite a bit of a nuisance to discuss, as they almost always look the same way, just with a random assortment of candies, sweets, and whatever sugary thing the art team was snacking on when they were creating the game. To its credit, Candy Links Bonanza 3 comes with some new sweets and slightly better graphics and colors, but it isn’t really enough to make us feel like this is a new game. At least we got a handful of new features to try out, and they are definitely the most welcomed change with this release. So, let us move over to the gameplay section and discuss it in more detail.
As usual, let us start with the stats, as the game rocks a uniquely slightly less-than-average RTP of 95.99% and an okay max win of 5,000X the game. The Hurricane Links Panel, or the bingo card, isn’t the first time we’ve seen a feature like this, but it is definitely what makes this series a bit special, and we can’t really hate on it, as, to be honest, we kinda enjoy the bingo minigame. Now, with the third installment, we’re also been given the Modifier Symbols and Hot Spots to increase the payouts and gameplay depth of the bingo card. This can lead to some pretty exciting moments when you have a stacked, almost full, Link Line, and you’re just hoping for that last Coin Symbol to fill in for a big payout, and the best part is that this can happen in both the base game and bonus game. Then we have the Wheel of Fortune, which, at times, we almost forgot about, as with some unlucky Bingo Lines, you might not even trigger it, but we can’t deny that its Jackpots can be fun to chase down when you actually trigger the feature. With a pretty solid base game, we then have the Free Spins feature, which doesn’t do much except make the Hot Spots just a bit more consistent, as they can now trigger on basically all Symbols, even making the standard paying symbols split up for potentially bigger paylines. The issue we have with that, however, is that the paytable is pretty weak, so the split symbols aren’t the most exciting, meaning that the one thing the Free Spins bring to the table feels rather minuscule. All in all, we had a good time with the game and gladly welcome its new features, however, we still think it lacks in other areas and could definitely do with a bit of a makeover if we ever see another installment.
