Introduction to Astro

Astro is a casino slot from Wicked Games that will take you out of this world, but at least you have some fruits to keep you company. If that wasn’t a big enough hint, then let us be the first to tell you that this is a fruit slot game, and as many other games in this genre, it is quite simple, both visually and gameplay-wise. Coming with the typical space neon vibes, there isn’t really much to talk about graphically, as it kinda looks like a game you’ve seen before, and it kinda reminds us of releases like the Alien Fruits series, or Stars n’ Sweets. However, the game that reminds us the most is another Wicked Games fruit slot release, namely Nitro 100, which also shares some similar features. In that game, you’ll find a plethora of Wilds through the Spreading Wild bonus, and here in Astro, we have something like that in the form of the Expanding Wilds, which can also lead to Respins for bigger winning combinations. Both games also share the Fixed Jackpot Bonus, which comes with 3 Jackpot prizes, ranging from 20X to 2,000X, which can be awarded by landing Bonus Marked Frames on the reels as you play. So while it may feel like a spiritual successor, the games have slight differences, even if they do play the same, but at least we have a new max win of 4,000X the bet.

Take to the stars and find Expanding Wilds and consistent wins in this simple and straightforward fruit slot. If you want to try the game out for yourself, then check out the Astro demo.

Theme, Gameplay & Payouts

Astro is a video slot from Wicked Games with 5 Reels, 3 Rows, and 10 Paylines. You can choose between making a Min.bet of 0.1 and a Max.bet of 200. Astro comes with an average RTP of 96.11% and low volatility, where big spikes of wins don’t happen too often, but you are always able to hit the max win of 4,000X the bet.

You find yourself deep in space, where the vast emptiness contains nothing except for a playing grid filled with fruit and Wilds. While it may look empty, the game does come with some crisp sound effects, visually appealing flashing lights, and of course, a space orchestral soundtrack to set the mood. You can play the game on most notepads, mobiles, and desktops.

The lower-paying symbols are oranges, cherries, and lemons. Creating a win with 5 of the same symbols will pay out 2.5X the bet. The medium-paying symbols are plums and watermelons. Creating a win with 5 of the same symbols will pay out 5X to 6X the bet. The higher-paying symbols are grapes and diamonds. Landing a win with 5 of the same symbols pays out 12X to 25X the bet. We only got one Special Symbol to play with, and it's the Expanding Wild Symbols, but more on those in the next section.

Final Thoughts on Astro

Wicked Games seems to have loved their release Nitro 100, as Astro is basically, as we called it, a spiritual successor, following the same fruit formula and similar features. This felt a bit disappointing to us, as we honestly thought Nitro 100 was a good release and Wicked Games, albeit a new studio, have delivered on quality games, but still feel the need to rehash previous releases with minor changes. Fruit slots are already toeing a line of being too simple and classic to be deemed worthwhile games compared to what was released years ago, and while Nitro 100 feels like it helped break the mold a bit, Astro took two steps backwards instead. But, in a vacuum, Astro isn’t a horrible game, although it suffers from an unoriginal theme and the most basic formula, it still delivers on a quality slot experience from time to time.

If we move over to the gameplay section, we can quickly run through the stats, starting with the average RTP of 96.11% and a rather low max win of 4,000X the bet. Basically, all your wins will be through the paytable, be it naturally or with the help of the Wild Symbols, of which there are many, thanks to them being able to expand and trigger the Respin bonus, which can actually lead to some pretty juicy hits. But that is also basically the entire gameplay loop, as there isn’t really any highly volatile bonus game that would spice up or change the spins. Should mention that there is also the Fixed Jackpot Bonus, which, on any spin, can land with Bonus Frames, and if you get enough, you can walk away with a pretty hefty price, up to 2,000X the bet. So, that’s the entire game, and while it works fine and looks great, the Expanded Symbols, at least to us, are just not as fun as the chaotic mess that you could find yourself in with the Spreading Wilds of Nitro 100. Even with that said, we would highly recommend giving the Astro demo a try.

Astro is a slot with the classic Fruit formula, rocking Expanded Wilds, Respins, and Jackpot bonuses.
