3 Scarabs of Fortune hits a strange, well-made balance of feeling like both a modern, simple release, while still keeping certain aspects of old-school, classic gaming. This can be seen as soon as its visuals, as Ancient Egypt has been a theme in casino gaming for decades, and Octoplay delivers a very basic version that doesn’t try to step out of line. Graphically, unsurprisingly, it is also quite simple, but doesn’t necessarily look bad, just a bit boring and, at best, shiny. However, as we said, if we look at this game like a more modern old-school experience, then it all kinda makes sense, and we think it hit the nail on the head.
Gameplay-wise, as we had mentioned in the introduction, we were gladly surprised that this was not yet another 3 Pot mechanic game, and instead is a light and Wild-centric game all about Multiplied Wins and Jackpots. This is another aspect we would say Octoplay hit pretty well, though for a modern audience, the game can feel a bit too little, as it is a glorified payline slot with rare Jackpot prizes on top. However, we think the game can find an audience that has been waiting for a new classic slot experience. For us, although we enjoy the gameplay loop, it can become a bit too one-dimensional, which the bonus game does make a bit more interesting with its moving Wild Symbols. All in all, it’s a game that we wish had something more to really engage us, and we do think that the game’s lower-than-average stats aren’t exactly helping its case.
