But the card deck is long gone in this game, instead is there a ladder with 12 steps, taking you one step up every time you win. The chance of doubling a win is still 50%, but the player can’t affect the outcome in the same way anymore. We have said it before, and we’ll say it again: it doesn’t matter how handsome Captain Venture is; this game isn’t attracting any players because of its look. The experienced Novomatic player will recognize the sounds and the square graphic, but it feels outdated. It’s nice with familiar sounds and looks, but it would be nice with something fresh too. Speaking of more innovative parts of the game takes us straight to the Free Games which are really attractive. Not only can you score 20 free spins from the start, but you can also keep on winning new free spins in the feature. The 4x multiplier on all wins also sticks out and makes this game all about the free spins. On top of that comes Captain Venture who can double the free spins wins, so they become 8X as big as in the base game. The great value of the free spins is another reason to play on all 10 paylines in this game. We made the mistake to play on just 1 payline, which resulted in scoring the free spins pretty cheap. Once there, though, we barely won anything because we only had 1 payline. Watching all those presumably high wins go down the drain on the unused paylines was painful. It’s also in the Free Games you can score the max win of 80000X the bet by filling the slot with Captain Venture. That’s for sure a max win worth its name, a lot higher than most others.

The old version of this feature gave a higher sense of participation since it was up to the player to pick the correct card.
