Dead or Alive II Slot Overview

Dead or Alive II is a casino slot from NetEnt released almost exactly a decade after the incredibly popular Dead or Alive was released. Once again, we're invited to hunt outlaws in the Wild West, but with enhanced graphics and updated features. Dead or Alive II actually has 3 different free spins, with the High Noon Saloon version offering a breathtaking max win of 111111X. Landing the max win playing with the Max.bet of 18 will give you a million in the currency you're playing. Players who can't stop playing the old version should know that one of the free spins in the new game – The Old Saloon – is the same as in the old game. Come with us to this godforsaken Western town, and try to catch all the five wild outlaws.

Base game

Dead or Alive II is a video slot from NetEnt with 5 reels, 3 rows, and 9 paylines. The Min.bet is 0.09, and the Max.bet is 18. The RTP is pretty much the same as in the first version, with an RTP landing on 96.8%, and the volatility is high. Landing the max win will give you 111111X the bet, and the hit frequency is 29.8%. The free spins feature is activated 1 in 195 spins.

To survive in Dead or Alive II, players must take advantage of the features Wild Symbol, Scatter Symbol, Train Heist Free Spins, Old Saloon Free Spins, High Noon Saloon Free Spins, and Bonus Buy.

Dead or Alive II Slot Information

Dead or Alive II feels like an upgraded version of the first game in some ways and a completely new game in others. We're still in a Western town, but the deserted outskirts have been replaced with a street with houses on both sides. The graphics are crystal sharp, and the reels are transparent, showing what's in the background. A gas light is waiving in the upper left corner, and the reels are framed in by a gallows hill that was used to hang people in the Wild West. The first game in this series makes a gun cocking sound every time you hit the spin button. This sequel has some mysterious music that sounds like it's taken straight from The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, or some other Spaghetti Western movie. To make a win, you must land three of the same symbols on any of the nine paylines, going left to right. All wins must start on the first reel to the left, and the game is of course available on desktops, notepads, and mobile phones.

The symbols in Dead or Alive II are also very familiar to any player of the first version. The lower-paying play card symbols 10, J, Q, K, and A pay 0.2X-1.1X the bet for a winline of 3 and 2.8X-11.1X for a complete winline of 5 symbols. The higher-paying symbols in the Wild West are a whiskey bottle with a shot glass, cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, a revolver, and a sheriff's star. These symbols pay between 1.1X-2.2X for a winline of 3 and 22.2Xto 111.1X for a complete combination of 5. The Wild Symbol is depicted by any of the 5 outlaws from the first game. They substitute all regular paying symbols, and they can all land on any position. They also pay on their own, up to 166.7X for landing 5. The wilds also have some extra features in the free spins. The Scatter Symbol, depicted by two revolvers, can take you to the free spins by landing at least 3 on any position. They also pay on their own, up to 2500X the bet for landing 5.

Free Spins

Wild Symbol

The Wild Symbol actually consists of 5 different characters. The symbols are very detailed, showing two women and three men. We can assume that it's the same outlaws appearing on wanted posters in the first game: Billy, Belle, Della, Apache, and Jesse. The Wild Symbols substitutes all symbols except the scatter. They also pay on their own, from 2.8X for landing 3 to 166.7X for all five bandits. The symbols also work different wonders in the free spins.

Scatter Symbol

The Scatter Symbol, depicted by two revolvers, only appears in the base game. Landing 3 or more anywhere on the reels activates the free spins, and they also pay on their own. Landing 2 scatters pay 2X the bet, and landing 5 will increase your pot by 2500X the bet. The Scatter Symbols pay besides any regular win.

Train Heist Free Spins

Landing 3 or more scatters activates the free spins, and once you're there, you get the delicate option of choosing one of the three free spins features. NetEnt has ordered them for you with the least volatile Trainheist Free Spins to the left, the Old Saloon in the middle, and the most volatile High Noon Free Spins to the right. The Train Heist feature has a multiplier starting at 1X and increasing by +1 every time a Wild Symbol lands on the reels. You will also get an extra spin every time a wild lands, and if you collect 16 wilds you're awarded 5 more spins plus the spin the sixteenth symbol grants you. The multiplier will increase even after 16 if more wilds land, and you will still also be awarded an extra spin for every wild. NetEnt hasn't revealed the max win in this feature.

Old Saloon Free Spins

The Old Saloon is pretty much the same feature as in the first Dead or Alive, although the max win of 1500X in this updated version is eight times lower than in its forerunner. All wins in the Old Saloon are doubled, and wilds become sticky and stay in their positions until the end of the feature. Landing at least one wild on every reel will award you 5 extra spins.

High Noon Saloon Free Spins

Fasten your seatbelt and hold on because this ride can end anywhere, with the possible outcome of scoring the insane max win of 111111X the bet. Every wild that lands become sticky, just as in the Old Saloon. If 2 wilds land on the same reel, they're transformed into double multipliers, and landing 3 wilds on a reel turn the symbols into triple multiplier wilds. If a win contains several multiplier wilds, they're all multiplied with the win. Collecting one or more wilds activates 5 extra free spins. The highest win on a single bet line is 20250X the bet.

Mega win

Bonus Buy

This feature was added to the game a year after it was released in a Feature Buy Edition. If you're playing Dead or Alive II today, there's a big chance this feature is available unless you're residing in the UK or some other territory where Bonus Buys are forbidden. All you have to do to play one of the free spin features is to click on the button in the upper left corner saying "Buy Free Spins." For 66.7X the bet, a session in the free spins world is all yours.

Dead or Alive II Slot Conclusion

"Wow" is the first word that comes out after spinning the reels in Dead or Alive II. It has everything the first game has but looks so much better with the latest graphics. The first version is definitely not ugly, it has nice retro-feeling and soothing sound effects, but it's not fair to compare it to this new release. Besides great graphics, this new version also has three different free spins features that might be harder to choose between than you think.

The Train Heist becomes more and more valuable for every spin, with the constant growing multiplier. The Old Saloon is the original free spins feature that will be just as good in a hundred years as it is today, and the High Noon is, of course, amazing considering the max win of over a hundred thousand times the bet. NetEnt has released some great games over the years like Jack Hammer, Vikings, and Starburst, but we wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a favorite to many players.

As usual, NetEnt is generous with the RTP of 96.8%, putting Dead or Alive II a fair bit above the average casino slot. The hit frequency of 29.8% means that almost a third of all spins will be a win, which most people probably appreciate, although it means that a lot of wins pay little. The free spins feature is activated once in 195 times, also a pretty fair number, and the already mentioned max win of 111111X the bet is almost too good to be true.

Dead or Alive II from NetEnt is an amazing upgrade of an already great casino slot, with a free spins feature that can award over a hundred thousand times the bet.
